"Zab, do you want to be in the room when it's time?"

Zoe had officially been in the hospital for a month when she started having contractions again. She was only dilated around seven centimeters so far, so there wasn't a huge rush for the doctors to get back into the room. "You don't have to be, but I just thought maybe you'd like to be." It didn't bother Zoe that her brother could possibly be in the room for her daughter's birth, and it didn't seem to bother him either.

"Si, if it's okay with you," Zabdiel spoke softly, knowing her head was pounding from the position she was forced to lay in. "And Christopher," Zoe waved her hand in Zabdiel's direction, knowing Christopher would do anything to make her comfortable. Speaking off her fiance, he was currently pacing the hallway while making calls to anyone and everyone he could think of. "Let's hope he doesn't pass out first," Zoe's laugh turned into a gasp when a forceful contraction hit her, sharing a quick look with her brother. "I'll go get them,"

He slid out of the room, Christopher entering in his place. "Amor? Is it time?" Christopher glowed with hope, beautiful brown eyes lighting up her dim room. Zoe smiled softly, nodding and reaching out her hand in his direction. "Are you ready for this?" He kissed her knuckles, rubbing small circles on the back of her hand with his thumb. "To be parents?" She could see the joy and excitement radiating off of him in waves.

"More than I thought I would be," She smiled, her face dropping over another contraction. "Fuck," Zoe swore ungracefully, clutching her lower stomach. "Okay, I'm a little more ready now," It was her attempt at a joke to lighten to tension, but deep down she was being completely honest. "Where's Zabdiel and the doctor?" She squirmed, the door opening just after she'd spoken. Zabdiel walked over to stand by her head, Doctor Thomas carefully examining her. He stood back up with a smile, motioning for the nurse behind him to start preparing.

"Well, it's time to start pushing. Are you ready?"

Zoe looked up at Christopher, Zabdiel and the others looking away from them. Christopher cupped her cheek in his hand, staring deep into her eyes and speaking in a soft calming tone of voice. "You can do this, Amor," He smiled lovingly, brushing away a stray tear from her cheek. She wasn't sure what exactly was making her cry, whether it was the hormones or the pain, but she didn't give it much thought. "I think you're ready to meet our little girl, yeah?" Zoe choked on a small sob, nodding vehemently.

"We're ready,"

"Zabdi, man, you good?"

"Shut up, pendejo,"

Zabdiel was reclined in the corner of the room with an icepack pressed to the side of his head. Christopher sat beside him with a smirk on his face, thoroughly enjoying teasing him for the situation around an hour ago. You see, Zabdiel passed out at the sight of his niece's birth and hit his head on the ground, giving him a very mild concussion. His sister had barely glanced at him as he fell to the ground, simply rolling her eyes and giving one final push.

"I really wish you'd gotten that on videotape," Zoe spoke up from across the room, an exhausted smile on her face. She smelt faintly of sweat from the hours of pushing she'd gone through to give birth to the beautiful baby girl cradled in her arms. "It would've made a great present for her," Christopher stood up, carefully dragging his chair over next to his fiance as to try and not wake up his little girl. "Isn't she just the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?" Zoe cooed, gently trailing a finger along her daughter's cheek.

Veronica Mariana Vélez came to the world weighing in at eight pounds, seven ounces. She already had a mop of dark brown hair atop of her petite round head. Much to Zoe's joy, her daughter had inherited Christopher's smile, eyes, and long fingers. Veronica had Zoe's nose, a perfect little slope. She was the most beautiful thing Zoe, Christopher, and Zabdiel had ever laid eyes on. The mere sight of her made all of the pain Zoe had gone through worth it.

"Mmm, she looks just like you, so of course she's beautiful." Christopher mused, admiring the sight of his fiancée and daughter. Zoe rolled her eyes at him but couldn't help the faint blush that spread across her face. Zabdiel smiled lazily at the sight of the tiny family, proud of how far his sister and best friend had come. It no longer bothered him and if anything it just made him happy, realizing that his best friend would soon be his brother in law. "I can't wait to take her home,"

"I know," Zoe sighed, remembering that she had to wait another twenty-four hours before leaving since she'd had such a high-risk pregnancy. "I was thinking we should take her to Loja," She mused, finally bringing herself to look away from her daughter. "We could go for a week so that the Familia can meet her," Christopher lit up at the idea of going back to his country, nodding eagerly. Zoe caught Zabdiel's silence, laughing silently. "Don't worry, you can come too. She has to have her Tio Zab,"

"Yay!"
