"GIVE ME MY GODDAMN SMOOTHIE BACK BEFORE I SHOVE A CACTUS SO FAR UP YOUR-"

Edith and Christopher both looked up from their phones to see his girlfriend on her boyfriend's back. No, it didn't bother them. They all knew that they were strictly best friends so there was no doubt in their hearts. The thing that worried them was that it seemed like she was going to strangle him. Erick has a mango smoothie in one hand, otherwise known as Zoe's. It was common knowledge that you don't steal Zoe's food.

"Ay, Papa!" Christopher jumped up from the picnic table, hooking Zoe with one arm and snatching her smoothie with the other. He placed her in the sand behind him and handed her the drink, glaring heavily at Erick. "Are you trying to get yourself killed? You don't touch her food," Zoe grinned from behind Christopher, enjoying him standing up for her even if it was over something so stupid.

I mean, he wasn't wrong. Erick knew better than to test Zoe but he wanted to try it when she was distracted. That being said, everyone knew how much Zoe cared about her food. Which is exactly why a few minutes later when they were chatting at the picnic table that what she said shocked them half to death.

"Wanna sip, bebé?" Zoe held the styrofoam cup up to Christopher's face, too busy eating fries to notice the shock. Christopher glanced over at Erick and Edith for help, the later sitting with a cheesy knowing grin on her face. Edith motioned for him to take it, which he slowly did as if trying not to spook an animal. She looked up after a few moments with a genuine smile, brushing her hair away from her shoulders. "It's good, isn't it?"

Christopher fell a little harder at that moment. Just the knowledge that he was the exception to her for something like that made butterflies fill his chest. "Uh, yeah. It's really good," Zoe grinned happily, laying her head on his shoulder. He automatically slipped an arm around her waist to make her more comfortable. Erick and Edith watched their interactions with proud smiles. They never thought Zoe would be so open with someone after what happened with David. "Are you cold, Princesa?"

"I'm perfect," She reached up and removed his hat, placing it on her own head. It had become a ritual, stealing his snapback every time he wore one. Hell, she did it with beanie's, bandanas, sunglasses, and literally anything else she could. He loved it. "Well, now I am." Zoe laughed, plucking another french fry from the tray. Christopher smiled widely, shyly kissing her temple. Erick, of course, made a sound of disgust than earned a smack from Edith.

"You're lucky I love you," Edith teased Erick, getting an I love you too in response. Christopher and Zoe had gone silent, awkwardly going back to their food. It seemed that the couple across the table had noticed the change in mood, sharing a look that communicated the same knowing thought. "Thanks for doubling with us tonight. Zabdiel and Madison can be very extra," Zoe snorted, nodding in agreement.

"No need to thank us. We're just as grateful," Zoe played with the silver rings on Christopher's fingers, focusing on the one that matched her necklace. They still hadn't talked about how they would tell Zabdiel. It wasn't going to go well, they both knew that. For now, it seemed that they were trying to live in their bubble of bliss for as long as possible. "But, if you touch my smoothie again I will shove a cactus up your ass."

She said it with such innocence, taking a swig from her smoothie before offering it once more to Christopher. It amazed him, everything about her. How she could make a threat seem so adorable to him despite knowing she would follow through with it in a heartbeat. He found it attractive, something that would make her a good mother.

Damn, Chris. You really wanna open that window right now? Zabdiel's already going to hate your guts.

"We're gonna go for a quick walk," Edith stood up with Erick, his arm slung over her shoulders. They moved down the strip of sidewalk with their trash, leaving Zoe and Christopher to themselves. "How long do you think we can stay out before Zabdiel comes looking for us?" Christopher mused aloud, twirling a section of Zoe's hair around his finger. She sighed quietly with the knowledge that it was already nearing eleven pm.

"Not long enough," Zoe tilted her head back to look at him, finding him already doing so. Christopher carefully stood up from the bench, pulling Zoe with him. "What's wrong?" He stayed silent, tugging her all the way down to the edge of the beach. His arms snaked around her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"I just want to remember this moment with you," Christopher shrugged as if it was the most obvious thing on planet earth. Damn, he could melt her into a puddle. "Zobeida?" She tried not to freeze when he used her full first name, humming to signal that she was listening. "Can I keep you?" Zoe broke out into a smile that physically hurt, turning around in his embrace. Christopher craned his neck to look down at her, awaiting her answer.

"Forever?"

"Mhm,"

"That sounds pretty damn amazing to me,"
