"I can't believe she's slept this long,"
"Which one are you talking about? Zoe or Veronica?"
Christopher glanced down at his unconscious fiancée who was curled into his side, fast asleep. He then shifted his gaze to the seat beside her where their daughter was sound asleep in her carrier. Zabdiel sat on the other side of Christopher, observing silently. Zoe hadn't been sleeping much since her daughter came home nearly a month ago for fear that she wouldn't hear her cry. Even though Christopher had set up a bassinet in their bedroom for Veronica while she was still so little.
"I was talking about Zobeida, but Ronnie too." Zabdiel chuckled softly, trying not to disturb his sister and niece. It was nearly a five-hour flight and they'd been asleep for four out of five of those hours seeing as they were almost to Loja. "She's asleep, but barely. Her leg twitches when she's in a deep sleep," Christopher noted aloud, stroking Zoe's hair. Her brother raised his eyebrows, slightly surprised that he paid such close attention. "I don't want to wake either of them up,"
"I know, but we're about to land," Christopher sighed, knowing Zabdiel was right but still not wanting to disturb her. "She can rest when we get to your house," Zabdiel assured him, remembering that Christopher's family lived around twenty minutes away from the airport. Brushing her hair back behind her ear, Christopher leaned down and pressed a soft kiss on her cheek. Zabdiel looked away to give them a moment of privacy, fiddling with his fingers.
"Amor, it's time to wake up. We're almost there," Zoe whimpered, slowly prying her eyes open. She smiled softly at the kisses he placed along her face, eventually reaching her lips. "My bed is waiting for you at mamá y papás," Christopher helped her sit up in her seat, her eyes flitting over to their baby. "She's fine, she's slept the entire way," Breathing out a breath of relief, Zoe ran a hand through her slightly disheveled hair.
"Thank you for letting me sleep," She slid Christopher's jacket on that she'd been using as a blanket, reveling in the scent. "Are they picking us up?" Zoe rested her head on his shoulder, giving his cheek a quick peck. Christopher nodded, burying his nose in the top of her head. She flexed her left hand, looking down at the ring on her finger with a tired but sappy smile. "I missed it here," Zoe admitted as the plane started to land, Christopher smiling softly. "We should look at houses in the area while we're here,"
"Mmm, I think Mama would be happy to babysit while we shop around."

"Si, go get some rest. I'll take the little one,"
Yenny cradled her granddaughter in her arms, having hardly put her down for the twenty-four hours they'd been there. "Go, I raised this one just fine. I can watch Veronica for a few hours," She waved Christopher and Zoe off, recognizing the exhaustion evident on their faces. The engaged couple glanced at each other, having a silent conversation. Christopher nodded his head once and Zoe gave in, allowing him to pull her down the hallway. "Gracias, Mama," Zoe whispered behind her, stumbling a little at the beginning of the stairs.
"Come on, mi amor," Christopher stopped one step in, bending at the knees to swoop her up into his embrace. Zoe's limbs went limp in his touch, barely having enough energy to wrap an arm around his neck. Not that she needed to, his hold was tight enough on her as is. He kicked his bedroom door shut behind them, sitting her down on the edge of the bed. "Here," Reaching for the hem of his shirt, he pulled it over his head and handed it to her.
"Gracias," Zoe muttered, sliding her jeans and shirt off. She stifled her small wince of pain from accidentally tugging at the stitches inside of her, but Christopher noticed anyway. He crouched down in front of her in nothing but his boxers, gently removing her jeans. "Thank you," Zoe put his shirt on her frame, her hands moving up to her hair to pin it up. Christopher replaced her hands with his before she could finish, using one of the hair ties he kept on his wrist for her. She was always losing hers, and it could also be of benefit to both of them.
"I think this is the first time we get to rest in a month," He carefully pulled her up onto the right side of the bed, pulling the covers over their body. Zoe sighed in relief, sinking into his arms with her back pressed against his chest. "Are you okay, Zobeida?" Christopher could basically feel the tension in her body, rubbing his hands up and down her arms. He placed a kiss to her bare shoulder where her shirt had fallen down, Zoe carefully turning in his arms so that she was facing him.
"It just feels weird not to have her with us. Good, we need a break, but weird," Zoe wrapped her arms around his torso, reveling in the feeling of her legs intertwined with his. "I missed this, the sound of your heartbeat." She listened to the steady thumping, dragging her nails in circles along his back. Christopher smiled tiredly, his hand resting on her backside. "I love you, Christopher," Her words had started to slur, hands stilling as a soft snore escaped her lips. But it was the way her leg twitched a few minutes later that made Christopher smile widely, burying his face in her neck.
