"She looks just like you, idiota,"
Erick smiled down at his niece, the two-month-old fast asleep in his arms. Every time he saw the infant he hogged her, only releasing her when he was forced. Both Erick and Edith were already spoiling Veronica rotten, not that the rest of the gang didn't do the exact same thing. They just did it more frequently, apart from Zabdiel and Christopher. Each time they left the house, Christopher and Zabdiel always seemed to return with something new. Christopher also made sure to bring his fiance something too, even if it was the most random thing on the planet.
"Well, I should hope so," Zoe mumbled through a mouthful of a cream cheese pastry that Christopher had pushed past her lips. "I carried her for nine months," She washed her breakfast down with a strawberry smoothie, resting her head on her fiancee's shoulder. Christopher smiled softly, placing a kiss in her hairline and tightening his grip around her. "Did Edith pick out her bridesmaid dress yet?" Zoe wondered aloud, knowing she'd given her bridesmaids' creative freedom apart from color.
Red.
"Mhm, she went with Jade, Kat, Aly, and Maggie yesterday," Christopher and Zoe had decided against having a maid of honor and best man since they couldn't choose just one person. The rest of Little Mix was simply helping to coordinate the wedding instead of actually being in it since Christopher and Zoe were limiting their wedding party to five people each. He'd chosen the rest of CNCO, obviously, and his brother, Jonathan. "Jade has to get hers altered since she's pregnant, obviously,"
Jade would be six-months pregnant with a little boy by the time Christopher and Zoe's wedding rolled around in three weeks. She already had a decently sized bump grown and continued to get larger. Joel was glued to her side at all times and quite frankly couldn't keep his hands off of his wife. Zoe had thought Christopher was overprotective, but Joel took it to a whole new level. Not that Jade minded, she absolutely adored the attention he was giving her.
"I had to have mine altered too, baby-weight," Zoe blew out an exasperated breath, subconsciously running her palm across her stomach when Christopher wasn't paying attention. Erick's lips twitched down in the corners over the action, quickly forgetting about it when Veronica stirred in his arms. "She might need her diaper changed, Pendejo," Zoe went to stand but sat back down when Erick said he'd take care of it, carrying the baby into the room Erick and Edith had set up as a nursery. "Thank you!"
"Amor," Christopher rubbed her thigh with his free hand, pulling her legs into his lap. "I wasn't too sure about leaving her with the boys while we're gone," Zoe smiled softly at his nerves, knowing they would both miss their daughter terribly while on their two-week honeymoon. "But, I think they'll be fine. Erick and Zabdiel have been doing really well with her, plus Richard has Aaliyah so we know he can step in." He squeezed her thick thigh, the completely normal action sending a small wave of self-consciousness through her that she hid well.
"She'll be just fine, they all will be. I'll be right back," She pecked his cheek as she stood up, wandering into the bathroom. Passing Erick on her way, she locked the door behind her and stared into the mirror. It had started about two-weeks after Zoe had Veronica, the perpetual loathing of her body. Before and during her pregnancy she'd been rather comfortable with her body, but that changed when she looked at herself after getting out of the shower one day. That's when she found all of the stretch marks and a little extra weight.
Thin lines decorated her stomach, upper arms, thighs, backside, and breasts. Her once flat and rather toned stomach now had a small but noticeable bump, breasts sagged a little more than usual. She hadn't let Christopher see her completely naked since Veronica had been born, which he hadn't really noticed due to being so busy. After giving birth, you were supposed to give your body time to heal before becoming intimate again, but she had somehow managed to prolong the time. Christopher didn't push it in any way, they hardly had alone time in the first place.
The thought of anyone seeing her body the way it had become terrified her.
"Pendejo?"
She jumped at the voice on the other side of the door, hastily wiping away the few stray tears she'd finally noticed. Slowly opening the bathroom door, Zoe found Erick standing there with a knowing look on his face. "Zoe, what's going on?" Zoe opened her mouth to try and reassure him, but nothing came out. Erick frowned, pulling his best friend into his arms. "Talk to him, Zoe, he'll understand." He rubbed small circles into her back, letting her cry into his shoulder. She shook her head from side to side, sniffling quietly.
"I will, just not yet," Erick cocked his head to the side, not believing her at all. "I promise," Zoe rubbed her eyes, taking a tissue from behind the counter to wipe her cheeks. "Just drop it, for now, okay?" She composed herself in the mirror, stepping past Erick into the hallway. He gently gripped her wrist, pulling her back to look at him. "Erick, leave it." Zoe barely kept herself from snapping, wrenching her arm out of Erick's grip. She knew he wouldn't say anything without her permission, or at least she hoped.
So, she plastered on a smile and returned to her family.
