III

It was the night right before the first day of school and Soobin was fretting over it. He had gotten into his school of choice, St. Ever's High but knew that just that wouldn't necessarily guarantee him happiness. He was excited since a new school would mean a new beginning however, he knew that it could end up being worse than junior high had been.

Soobin faced himself at the mirror, "We got this, we're just going to stay clear of everyone's way and try to have a peaceful high school life," Soobin looked back at all the times he had told himself that once high school started he would make new friends, but now things were different, he had Yeonjun and one friend was more than plenty for Soobin who had been friendless before Yeonjun had come along.

Soobin smiled to himself, "It's all fine because I have Yeonjun now, even if I make no new friends, it's alright because Yeonjunnie is here."

Just then, Soobin's phone rang out a notification.

C. Yeonjun: Goodnighttt !

C. Yeonjun: School starts tomorrow so I've got to get my beauty sleep zzZ

C. Yeonjun: Don't miss me tonight because even I'm not reckless enough to pull an all-nighter right before the first day of school Lollllll

C. Yeonjun: Sweet Dreamss !!

C. Soobin: Wow, what.

C. Soobin: That sounded weird.

C. Yeonjun: Get your head out of the gutter T-T

C. Yeonjun: You're corrupting my innocence !

C. Soobin: Haha!

C. Soobin: Goodnight to you too, "bub."

C. Yeonjun: Stop attacking me with the full stops, youuu T-T

C. Yeonjun: Anyway, yes thank you goodnight

C. Yeonjun: Don't send another text rn because we both know we'll end up texting all night again Lolol T-T

Soobin smiled to himself and closed his phone, flopping onto his bed and instantly falling asleep, feeling excited for what the next day was to bring.

The next morning, like every other morning, Soobin woke up to messages from Yeonjun.

C. Yeonjun: Good Morning ! :D

C. Yeonjun: I am: hella excited for school

C. Yeonjun: I pray to Lord that there are many cute kids in my class

C. Soobin: What do you even go to school for?

C. Yeonjun: To simp ! ;)

C. Soobin: To what...?

C. Soobin: Anyway, I gotta go get ready for school.

C. Soobin: Bye!

C. Yeonjun: To simp means to-

C. Yeonjun: Bye, I guess:(

C. Yeonjun: Have a good day at school! :D

C. Soobin: What are you? My mum? Haha.

C. Yeonjun: -_-

C. Yeonjun: You're literally so funny, man

C. Yeonjun: You got the whole squad quaking in laughter

Soobin chuckled to himself, he always found the expressions Yeonjun used very amusing. He wondered which school Yeonjun went to, wondered if they were in the same grade especially since Yeonjun didn't seem all that younger than him.

Soobin got dressed into his St. Ever's High uniform, buttoning his crisp white shirt all the way up, fixing his collar and wearing his blazer, admiring the school emblem on it. St. Ever's High was a prestigious school and had a good reputation for having well behaved, disciplined boys who almost always got the highest scores in the whole country, "I'm sure kids like that won't have the time to bully a newcomer, some of them even might be nice enough to extend a hand of friendship," Soobin thought to himself, though just last night he had told himself that he didn't necessarily need anyone else since he had Yeonjun. "When it comes to friends, the more the merrier, right?" he justified to himself.

Soobin walked to school while eating the sandwich he had quickly made himself for breakfast, "Ah~ what a nice spring day, the sun's out and the air smells fresh, maybe this school year will actually be great," he thought to himself, smiling at the sun.

He quickly reached school, quietly looking around as he slowly made his way to his class. He knew St. Ever's High also consisted of junior high school and that many people in his class would already have their own friend groups from past grades so it would be like starting the school year in the middle of the school year for him. However, Soobin tried to lessen the anxiety by telling himself that he wouldn't be the only "new kid."

Just as Soobin was about to open the classroom door, a voice called him from behind, "Hey, Soobin!"

Soobin turned around, with a smile, he exclaimed, "Oh my god, we go to the same school!"
