As Soobin and Kai finished placing their order at a local pancake house, Soobin's phone rang out a notification, someone had sent him a text.

"Who is it?" Kai asked, seating himself in front of Soobin as Soobin opened his phone to check.

As soon as Soobin saw the message, he smiled a broad smile, Kai noticed and couldn't help but admire how pretty Soobin's smile was. The clear dimple on his cheek, the happiness sparkling in his eyes, the-

"Oh it's Yeonjunnie, he wishes you a happy birthday," Soobin said, sparing a short glance at Kai before turning his attention back to Yeonjun's texts.

"I could really never make him smile like that, huh?" Kai thought to himself, a bittersweet smile on his face as he watched Soobin excitedly type out a reply for Yeonjun.

As Soobin texted Yeonjun back, he felt an odd comfort that brightened his mood entirely. He had been feeling weird at how distant Kai seemed after the tiny incident at station that morning, but talking to Yeonjun was putting him at sincere ease.

C. Soobin: Yes, I met up with Kai and right now we're waiting for our pancakes to arrive.

C. Soobin: Also wished him a happy birthday from you, he said thanks.

C. Soobin: It'd be better if you wished him yourself though.

C. Soobin: It's slightly awkward because I'm still new and we're not that close of friends yet.

C. Yeonjun: Oh, c'mon Soobinnie, don't worry about something like that

C. Yeonjun: Even if you're new, so am I so~

C. Yeonjun: Anyway, you're still a precious hyung to him so~

C. Soobin: So?~

C. Yeonjun: So~

C. Yeonjun: So, try not to worry about trivial things like that, yeah?

C. Yeonjun: Try not to think about all that and just enjoy your time with him:)

C. Soobin: But I'd be more at comfort with you though, hyung:(

C. Yeonjun: Hyung?

C. Yeonjun: Well that's a first

C. Soobin: Oh c'mon, remember when you said you were my hyung and that you'd protect me?

C. Yeonjun: Awww

C. Yeonjun: Tiny baby Soobin needs Yoenjunnie-hyung to protect him?

C. Yeonjun: You're so soft wtf I'm cryingT-T

C. Soobin: Yes, please protect me, hyung:(

C. Yeonjun: IF YOU DON'T SHUT UP IM GONNA PUNCH YOU WITH ALL MY LOVE!!! T-T

C. Soobin: Do it.

C. Soobin: What are you? A coward?

C. Yeonjun: Okay, but call me Yeonjunnie-hyung first;)

C. Soobin: Wait, what's that about?

C. Yeonjun: Call me up rn and address me as "Yeojunnie-hyung"

Just then, as Soobin smiled to himself warmly after seeing the text, Kai cleared his throat, "Hyung, the food is here, let's eat"

"Oh yeah, let's," Soobin said, surprised that the food had arrived so early.

When Soobin didn't put down his phone even then, Kai said with a struggling smile, "Let's have a nice chitchat over breakfast, eh hyung?"

"Oh, Oh yeah, wait I'll just tell Yeonjun I gotta eat, okay?"

C. Soobin: Yeonjun-hyung, the food's here so I'm going to go eat.

C. Soobin: I'll see you later<3

C. Yeonjun: So you aren't gonna call me up rn?

C. Yeonjun: What are you?

C. Yeonjun: A coward?

C. Soobin: I'll do it later, yeah?

C. Yeonjun: :(

C. Soobin: Cheer up, Yeonjunnie-hyung.

C. Yeonjun: :)

Seeing Soobin smile at his phone and get flustered over Yeonjun's texts had been painful to Kai. Watching Soobin, he could tell that what Soobin felt for Yeonjun was exactly what he felt for Soobin. Kai remembered seeing Yeonjun and Soobin just the day before, how in-love they had looked, how perfect they had seemed then.

Though Kai had said they'd have a "chitchat overbreakfast," he couldn't bring himself to start any conversation, he feltbroken-spirited and with Soobin was the last place he wanted to be right then.He watched Soobin as Soobin ate his food deliciously while he struggled with having an appetite for the food, though amazing it looked.
