"He should be better after some rest. Nothing to worry about now that he's calmed down," the doctor said to Soobin.
Soobin nodded, though still worried about the older. They were now in their hotel room and the doctor, Dr. Lee, had checked Yeonjun to make sure he was alright.
"I'll take my leave for now. Make sure he eats something and tell him to visit a doctor just in case after you guys reach Seoul tomorrow, alright?"
"Yes ma'am, thank you so much," Mr. Kim said to Dr. Lee's before both adults went to the door to leave the room, leaving Soobin with the resting Yeonjun on the bed.
Right then, Kai reached the door, bowing to the doctor and his teacher.
"Make sure you boys also rest up well, alright? We leave at 9 tomorrow morning. Good night boys," Mr. Kim said, shutting the door as he left with the doctor.
"Hey hyung, is Jun-hyung alright?" Kai asked as he walked in.
"Yeah, he's asleep now," Soobin said with a tired sigh as he fell back on to the other bed.
Kai sat down besides Soobin, "Hyung, you should get some rest too."
Soobin just hummed, "So what did you all do after we left?"
"Star gazing."
"Woah, really?" Soobin sat up abruptly, surprising the younger and making him laugh.
"Yeah, there were these telescopes kind of things and we took turns looking," Kai replied, looking at the older fondly.
"Ehh must've been really nice," Soobin pouted.
"It was."
There was a brief silence before Kai spoke again, "Hyung, want to go to the balcony? We can see stars from there too."
"Wait, like, out that door?" Soobin pointed to the door in their room which led to a small balcony.
"Yeah."
"Oh my God let's!"
Right then, Yeonjun turned in his sleep.
"Oops, we've got to be a bit quiet though, right?" Soobin chuckled softly as they both went out to the balcony, slowly closing the door behind them.
"They're so pretty," Soobin expressed, his face looking up at the dark sky littered with bright stars.
Kai looked at the older besides him, happy to see the older's face which was immersed in the beauty of the night.
There was a comfortable silence in the air as both boys looked at the beautiful night, Kai stealing glances at the older here and there. At that moment, it felt as though it was only them in the world, only them and the million little stars in the sky.
Suddenly, Kai saw a tear slipped down Soobin's face.
"Ah- what's wrong with me, I don't know why I'm crying," Soobin whispered with a little awkward laugh.
Kai softly asked, "Is anything wrong, hyung?"
Soobin turned to face the younger beside him and Kai too, turned towards the elder. Kai suddenly engulfed the older into a hug while tears spilled down the older's face. Kai rubbed the older's back to give him a form of consolation.
"K-Kai."
"Yeah?"
"I was so scared..."
"Scared?"
"Y-Yeah... Seeing J-Jun-hyung like that."
Kai smiled, his hyung was always so sensitive towards others, always so attentive, always so caring. It was one of the many things the younger admired about him.
Kai slowly ran his fingers through the older's hair while the older sniffled, "He's always so strong, so perfect. But today, today when he looked so shaken up, so weak, so hurt, I don't know what happened. I felt like I was the one in pain myself! When he asked for me- in the car he asked me if I was there, I realized how much it hurt for me to see him like that..."
"Hyung, you're always so caring, I love that about you."
Soobin slowly pushed away from the hug to look at the younger's face, Soobin had a sad smile on his face, "It's not about caring... it's just he's-he's... always been this- this... beacon of light to me, he's always calm and composed, always helping me up when I'm down but... I don't know, I feel like I have failed to look at him as a person of his own rather than a hero of sorts..."
"There are people like that though, aren't there? People who always try to keep their strongest front for the ones they love," Kai let go of his arms around the older.
"Yeah... I wished he wouldn't do that."
"Really? I think it's admirable."
"Admirable?" Soobin looked up to meet the younger's cheery eyes.
"Yeah. To love someone so much that they'd only ever want them to be happy, would never want them to be bothered by your own pain, you know," Kai put his hands on the rails of the balcony.
"I- I mean... I know that's sweet and all! I know that's sweet and everything but you know, I feel like the purest kind of love would be one where you can share your emotions without any filters of sorts," Soobin argued, leaning back against the wall and eyes on the floor.
"That. You're right about that," Kai smiled at the older.
Soobin perked up, "Yeah. Like, to be having a two way conversation like this rather than hiding oneself... this is better, right?"
"Yeah," Kai whispered.
"Even though we're only talking about me and not about you," Soobin gave a little laugh.
"That's alright, hyung. I can't do all the things Jun-hyung does for you, so let me just be here as someone who'll always be by you to hear you out like this, alright?"
Soobin gave the younger a hug, "Thank you so much, Kai. You don't know how much I cherish you."
Kai pushed the older away from the hug and said with a smile that looked to have a tinge of sadness, "Thank you, hyung. I hope this makes you feel better now," Kai leaned in to give a kiss on the cheek to the older.
