As Soobin got out of the shower and was about to go to bed, his phone rang out a notification, it was Yeonjun.
C. Yeonjun: I'm so happy exams are finally over :D
C. Yeonjun: Time to have fun again whooo~
C. Soobin: I know right. I'm so happy too:)
C. Yeonjun: Wanna talk on the phone rn, Binnie?
C. Soobin: Sure!
Soobin's phone rang and Soobin saw the older's picture pop up. Smiling to himself, Soobin answered the call.
"Hey Binnie!"
Soobin smiled at the older's excitement, "Hey Hyung."
The two boys talked about random things as the hours passed by. Soobin was growing tired and sleepy as the time ticked by but was determined to stay up with the older and match the older's bright energy which hadn't faltered even a bit in the past hours.
Soobin softly yawned.
"Binnie, you sleepy?"
"Oh not all, Hyung."
"C'mon, go to bed now. It's too late anyway, almost 3 already."
"I can sleep in late tomorrow. It's a holiday, remember?"
"Yeah, but my baby needs his beauty sleep, doesn't he?"
Soobin's heart skipped a beat, but he decided to ignore it.
"Binnie? See! You're sleepy, you're being unresponsive. Go to bed. You need your sleep, you big bunny baby."
"Shut up, Hyung!" Soobin chuckled softly to himself.
Soobin could hear the older smiling.
"Okay, Hyung, I'll go to bed now, I guess..."
"Yes, go."
"...since you don't want to talk to me," Soobin fake-sobbed.
"Oh c'mon, Binnie! You know it's nothing like that!"
Soobin chuckled at the elder's tone of panic, "I know, Hyung. I'm just messing around."
Yeonjun huffed dramatically.
"Goodnight, Hyung."
"Goodnight, Binnie."
Soobin waited, not wanting to end the call just yet.
"Well, end the call, Binnie."
"No, you do it, Hyung."
"Should I?"
There was another brief moment of silence.
"Bye, Binnie. Goodnight, you know I love you."
"Hyung-"
Yeonjun cut the call before Soobin could reply.
Soobin fell back and laid on his bed, his face flushed and his hand on his heart. He could feel his heart beat, he felt alive and active, as though his life wasn't just a passing filler, as though his life too, had a proper meaning like the ones there were stories written about.
After a while, Soobin sat up straight, looking at the light peeking in from the curtains, it was a full moon but daybreak was already well on its way. Soobin smiled to himself, he'd had a fun day with his friends and had had more fun talking to Yeonjun. Soobin yawned, he knew he was tired, it had been a long day, the exam already felt like it was months, or even years, ago.
Soobin put his phone aside and laid back down on his bed, getting under the covers and closing his eyes as he waited for sleep to come.
Soobin tossed and turned in bed, hoping to get comfortable enough to fall asleep. He was sleepy and yawning but sleep wasn't coming to him. In his head, Soobin was thinking about the day he had had. As his mind continued replaying the events of the day while waiting for sleep to come, he was suddenly reminded of the dream he'd had at Beomgyu's.
Soobin sat up straight and face palmed, he'd completely forgotten about it. He had forgotten to ask the older to go to the park with him. Soobin wondered if he should call up the older and grabbed his phone, only to realize that the time was now 5 am and that it had started to get light outside.
"Hyung's obviously asleep right now," Soobin thought to himself, running both his hands through his hair in frustration.
Soobin wondered what he should do, he knew he had to go check on the playground equipment, he had to know if he'd met the older before. And if he had, why didn't the older remember him?
"I guess many people don't remember memories from as far back as just five years old," Soobin thought to himself as he laid back down to sleep.
"But wait! If we were that good of friends... and if I remember it... shouldn't Yeonjun-hyung remember too?"
Soobin was sitting up again, his mind all over the place, "Yeonjun-hyung has such good memory too... but a lot of people don't remember stuff like that from their childhood..."
Soobin forced himself to quit it and sleep, he could worry about all these things some other time, he knew he was tired and needed sleep. Soobin tried to shut his mind up and sleep, but the thoughts kept coming.
