As soon as the boys got their food and sat down for lunch, Yeonjun spoke up, "Guys, I'll just go to the washroom and be right back, okay?"
As Yeonjun stood up, Beomgyu got up too, "Let me come along too, hyung."
"Oh I mean, I just got to wash my face I feel kinda tired from the morning, you know."
Taehyun and Beomgyu exchanged glances, Taehyun hesitantly asked, "You sure you're not going to sneak to Soobin-hyung in the infirmary?"
Yeonjun's face dropped at the comment but he gave a dry smile, "I could but you heard Soobinnie, if I go to bother him right now, he'll never talk to me."
"So you aren't going to go to hyung, right?" Beomgyu asked.
"Of course not, I mean it'd be better if, I mean uhh...Yeah, anyway I'll be right back, yeah?"
As the three boys watched the eldest go, Kai hissed at his friends, "What was that, guys? Why are you guys so hellbent on not letting Yeonjun-hyung meet Soobin-hyung?"
Seeing that the younger was so upset, Taehyun didn't know what to say but Beomgyu spoke up, "Because Soobin-hyung told us to."
"What? Why..?" Kai was confused.
"We don't know why either. I think Soobin-hyung didn't want Yeonjun-hyung to see his bruise," Taehyun answered.
"It's because the bruise is ugly," Beomgyu simply stated.
"Hey, don't say that about Hyung!" Kai scolded.
"Hyung's words, not mine. He asked for my phone just so he could see his reflection and when he did see it he went all 'I can't believe I'm looking uglier than before' and all 'why did God make me so ugly,' it was annoying but hyung has a point, the bruise does look really nasty."
"So Soobin-hyung didn't want Yeonjun-hyung to see him like that because he felt ugly...?" Kai asked.
"I mean, you know how Yeonjun-hyung is known to be the most handsome dude in our school, maybe Soobin-hyung feels inferior to him," Taehyun said in a matter-of-fact kind of way.
"No, hyung doesn't feel inferior, he feels as if he's not enough for Yeonjun-hyung," Kai blankly stated.
"What...?" Taehyun asked, confused.
"I mean, c'mon guys, even I know that they both have a thing for each other," Kai said, trying not to feel hurt at that.
"Oh, you knew," Beomgyu quietly spoke.
"Oh course I knew. Hey! Don't look at me with those sympathetic eyes, I'm fine with it."
"You are...?" Beomgyu felt bad for his friend.
"Probably why he was trying to stick up for Yeonjun-hyung when we were not letting Yeonjun-hyung get close to Soobin-hyung," Taehyun commented.
"I mean, yeah. I felt bad for Yeonjun-hyung, I still do."
"Why? I thought he was your rival?" Beomgyu asked, confused.
"There's no way I can win against Yeonjun-hyung. Anyway, Hyung is my friend before he's my rival in love or whatever," Kai simply stated with a neutral expression on his face, though in his heart, he felt a little hurt.
"Hey don't say that about yourself not being able to win Yeonjun-hyung or something," Taehyun gave a soft smile to his friend.
"I mean, Yeonjun-hyung loves Soobin-hyung so much, he cares so much. I don't think I could ever love anyone as much as Yeonjun-hyung loves Soobin-hyung. You know when Yeonjun-hyung was hugging me and he heard about the bruise? Hyung was near to tears, he was shaking because he was so worried."
"Great! Now I feel bad for being mean to Yeonjun-hyung," Beomgyu ran both his hands through his hair in frustration.
"We did it for Soobin-hyung though," Taehyun rubbed his boyfriend's back, trying to comfort him.
"I mean, yeah. But anyway, what's up with Yeonjun-hyung anyway?!? We told him that Soobin-hyung needed him and then when we got to the study hall he only went to you and hugged you, not even sparing a glance to Soobin-hyung," Beomgyu expressed in annoyance.
"No, hyung had his whole attention towards Soobin-hyung, I don't know why he came to me either but he whispered in my ear asking about Soobin-hyung," Kai defended.
"He was probably worried about the bullying getting worse if he showed concern for Soobin-hyung in class," Taehyun sighed.
"Oh..." Beomgyu and Kai trailed off.
"Guys, by the way, did you hear anything about Yeonjun-hyung moving away or something?" Kai spoke up, suddenly remembering.
"Wait, what?" Beomgyu spluttered.
"It's literally just the beginning of the school year, of course he's going nowhere," Taehyun commented unfazed.
"Yeah, why would you think that?"
"Yeonjun-hyung and I were talking and Hyung went all 'I can't leave Soobin in this condition' or something like that. And when I asked him if he was going somewhere he panicked and quickly denied it, all nervous. He was all 'eheh you know, if I just had to suddenly go or something' with a really unconvincing chuckle," Kai elaborated animatedly.
"You're probably looking too much into it, NingNing," Beomgyu replied.
"If you had been there you'd think so too!" Kai insisted.
"Guys, hyung's coming back. Shut up about this for now," Taehyun said and sure enough, Yeonjun was walking into the cafeteria, calmly, with his usual confident air, as if nothing had happened at all.
