XVIII

Back at Boemgyu's house, Yeonjun, Beomgyu and Taehyun were chilling in the living room.

Hearing the phone call the other two boys had with Kai, Yeonjun asked, "Wait, so Soobin's not coming here?"

"Oh yeah, he's not," Taehyun said as Beomgyu pretended not to hear.

"Why not?" Yeonjun asked, slightly disappointed not to be with Soobin.

"It's like, hyung, you know how can we prepare Kai's surprise if Kai's right here, right? So we just got Soobin-hyung to distract Kai for some time until we're done with the preparation," Beomgyu piped up, exchanging a glance with his boyfriend.

"Ah," Yeonjun replied, questioning why he even was there if Soobin wasn't.

"Why Soobin though, I mean, from that phone conversation one would think that y'all are trying to set up Soobin and Kai or something," Yeonjun said, trying to laugh it off as though it were a joke.

There was a silence as Beomgyu and Taehyun exchanged looks, unaware of what to say.

"Hyung, do you like Soobin?" Taehyun asked, having confidence that Yeonjun's answer would be a no.

Hearing the question, Yeonjun suddenly paused, did he like Soobin...?

When Yeonjun didn't instantly answer, Taehyun and Beomgyu sent 'oh shit' looks to each other as they wondered if they made a bad decision by assuming that Soobin too, liked Kai back.

Suddenly Yeonjun spoke up, "I don't just like him, I love him."

Beomgyu choked and Taehyun struggled to keep a straight face as they both realized the weight of Yeonjun's words.

"Wait, hyung you actually love him?" Beomgyu spluttered.

"Oh no, are you guys dating?" Taehyun asked, suddenly regretting ever coming up with the whole "Sookai date" plan.

"Oh no, we're not dating. That'd be dumb," Yeonjun smiled.

"Does Soobin-hyung know you love him?" Taehyun asked.

"Does Soobin-hyung love you back?!?"

"I don't know. About both of those things, I really don't know. But for me, I love Soobin a lot and am only here, living as Choi Yeonjun, for him"

"Hyung...are you alright?" Taehyun and Beomgyu questioned at the same time.

"Yeah," Yeonjun had a wide grin on his face.

Only a silence followed as Beomgyu and Taehyun lost confidence in their "birthday gift" to Kai and as Yeonjun wondered when Soobin and Kai would be back so that he could see Soobin.

Missing Soobin, Yeonjun whipped out his phone and decided to leave some messages for Soobin, not even stopping to think that it would disturb the Sookai pair's date.

C. Yeonjun: Hey

C. Yeonjun: You alright? Did you meet Kai?

C. Yeonjun: If you did, tell him Yeonjun-hyung wishes him a happy birthday! :D

C. Yeonjun: A shame that I'm not there with you rn T-T

C. Yeonjun: But it's fine because we'll see each other later at Kai's surprise party:)))
