The next day, the five boys grudgingly woke up to the loud ringing of Taehyun's phone alarm. It was the last day, they would be returning to Seoul today and there was no way they could be late.
Beomgyu went to the washroom as Taehyun opened the balcony door to let some sunlight in as the other three stretched in bed.
"Where were you two last night?" Soobin lazily sat up and asked Taehyun.
"Oh right, all three of you were already asleep when we came, right? Beomgyu and I went to ask Yoonho what had happened and all," Taehyun answered.
Soobin nodded, the memories of the night before flooding in. Yeonjun looked to be back to normal as he folded his clothes and put them in his travel bag and Soobin wondered if the older was really fine or just putting up a front.
The night before, after Kai ran away to bed getting embarrassed over the kiss, Soobin had stayed out in the cool breeze for a bit more. When he returned back to the room, he had found both the oldest and the youngest sleeping like logs however, the Taegyu couple had not been around.
The boys packed up their scattered belongings, made sure to check every drawer and corner for possible forgotten items and were ready with their stuffed bags as they left their luggage to be put in the bus before heading to breakfast.
Taehyun was the farthest ahead in the buffet line and quickly chose a table after serving himself, Kai scurrying to catch up behind him.
"Tae-hyung, so what happened last night?"
"At Yoonho's? Turns out it wasn't his fault like we assumed."
"Oh?"
"Apparently Yeonjun-hyung got bored and strayed to the road planning to cross it to reach the end point but then when a car came along he just froze on the spot, in the middle of the road and then Yoonho helped him."
"You're telling me you believe that story?"
Taehyun sighed, "I wouldn't but Chan, the class rep, apparently saw the whole thing happen since he was in charge of scaring the participants in that area and heard as well as saw Yeonjun-hyung initiate the whole thing so."
"But why would Jun-hyung..." Kai faltered.
"Why would Jun-hyung suddenly collapse after seeing a car? Why would Jun-hyung break the rules and go to the road in the first place? I know right, it really doesn't sound like him to do that," Beomgyu finished for the younger with a sigh as he sat down besides Taehyun.
The three friends watched Yeonjun and Soobin near the end of the line as Yeonjun seemed to be helping Soobin put fruit in his plate, both looking smiley and happy in the moment.
"He seems normal today at least," Beomgyu commented.
"He's always got that happy-go-lucky look for Soobin-hyung, nothing new," Kai rebutted.
"Sometimes I feel like he's hiding something from us, something really sad, something he can't bear letting us know," Taehyun stated in a surely tone, as though he had been thinking of the idea for a while now. He was closely watching the older, feeling a sort of worry for his friend. The other two only just gave him a confused look, following his gaze and wondering about all the things they didn't know about Yeonjun.
"Hey guys, what're you guys on about?" Yeonjun asked with a cheerful smile as he seated himself at the table, Soobin sitting next to him as they placed their plates on the table, ready to eat.
"Oh nothing, just about how the trip ended so soon," Beomgyu swiftly piped up, quickly turning to his food.
"Right? Gone in the blink of an eye," Soobin agreed, digging into his plate hungrily.
After breakfast, the students quickly filed into the bus. As the boys were going to their seats together at the back, Mr. Kim called Yeonjun to the front to talk about the night before, leaving Soobin and Kai to play random games on Kai's phone while Beomgyu napped and Taehyun listened to his music.
The bus ride was a quick blur; Yeonjun returned back to his friends at some point, they played a few games, napped, and talked about mindless things until they finally reached Seoul. Nobody mentioned what had happened to Yeonjun the night before and niether asked Yeonjun about his talk with Mr. Kim but Soobin whispered a quick "Hyung, see a doctor later just in case, alright?" to the elder before he and Kai got out at their stop, back at home.
