I reach for another apple and bite the corner of it. If it wasn't for the fruits in the basket, I would rudely stormed out from this shoot.
"What's your problem, Devin? You look phased out." tugon ng direktor. I placed the apple on the small plate Casper's holding.
"Uhm. Let us talk for some moment." tugon ni Margaret roon sa direktor. Susundan ko pa sana sila ng tingin nang inilahad sa akin ni Casper ang cellphone niya.
"It's Princess Sofia, Your Highness." Umirap ako sa kawalan at saka kinuha iyon.
"Hej?" sagot ko sa kaniya.
"Is Devin there?" tanong nito. Mukha ba akong messenger?
"Ofcourse they are here, Sofia. Honestly, did you just call me for that?"
"Yes! This is pretty absurd! I can't go there until the royal dinner." Kumunot ang noo ko. What?
"What? Why? You should be here!" I thought she'll just be gone for half a day. She was a good help for me.... sa kaniyang presensya, hindi ko masyadong nakakasalamuha si Devin. Hindi ko maikakailang may kalandiang taglay ang kapatid ko. I never thought that trait of hers could be helpful.
"If it wasn't for the plaza's activities, I am not going to stay in the castle. I can't stand not seeing my future husband." Napangiwi ako sa huli niyang sinabi.
"We could just switch positions. It's better If I'll manage the activiti—"
"I already told that to Mother. She didn't agree. I have no choice. I guess I'll see him after five days." Napasinghap ako. This couldn't be happening.
"I need to go. Bye, Victoria."
"Wait, Sofi—" Hindi ko na naituloy ang aking sasabihin dahil sa pagbaba niya ng telepono. Hinilot ko ang aking sentido. Think, Shaya.
"Your Highness? Is there something wrong?" Matagal kong natitigan si Casper at saka umiling. Sofia is not here. Pacifica is not here. Reynan and Reschian is not here. Then, I'll have to deal with this all by myself. Great.
"Nothing. Thank you. I'm also full. But get me another apple." I said, handing the cell phone. Yumukod siya at nagsimulang linisin ang mga pagkain.
"Okay, the next scene is you're going to play tag, and then the kiss scene." Nasamid ako bigla nang sabihin ng direktor iyon.
"Are you okay, Your Highness?" I cleared my throat and sat up straight.
"Yes. Sorry for that. You may continue." sagot ko sa kanila na napatingin sa gawi namin.
The scene started, as much as I do not want to watch. Ang mga makukulit kong mata ay nakatuon pa rin sa dalawa. Psh, as if it's their first time doing it. Nagtakbuhan sila at paikot-ikot pa sa hardin hanggang sa niyakap ni Devin sa Marga sa baywang.
"Got you." Binulong niya sa kaliwang tainga. Napairap ako sa kawalan, tingnan mo nga naman, harap-harapan ko masasaksihan kung paano lumandi ang isang Devin Bradford Ziegler.
"You already got me...from the very beginning." Nagkatinginan sila at agad akong umiwas ng tingin ngunit ibinalik ulit. Devin's already lifting her chin....
"Your Highness."
"Ano?" naiirita kong sabi. Napakurap-kurap si Casper sa sinabi ko. Hindi nga pala siya nakakaintindi ng Tagalog.
"I mean, what?" sabi ko pa.
"You're crushing the apple." Agad akong napatingin sa mansanas at bumuntong-hininga.
"The apple's too soft. Is this even fresh?" I replied. Casper gave me a suspicious look.
"Fresh from the farm. I think you're crushing the wrong thing, Your Highness." I gave him a look but he just shrugged.
