Facing reality

I woke up to bright fluorescent lights hitting my face, making me squeeze my eyes shut. I look down to see no one. I see a figure in the distance. My vision is blurry so it's hard to see. When I finally can see it I realize...it's Mattia. He's in a tshirt and shorts. He doesn't have shoes on? Then I remember. Why I'm here, what happened and I start to feel tears stream down my cheeks. Mattia must have heard me. He opened his eyes and saw me. He smiled, but faded very quickly when he saw me crying. He stands up. He's wearing a black t shirt and grey shorts.

Mattia: hey, I'm right here.

Riley: where are your shoes? And why don't you have PANTS or a sweater?? It's Chicago!

Mattia: I rushed into the ambulance with you. I was t gonna go change. I could live with being a little cold.

I smiled. Making him smile. He bent down and kissed me on the forehead.

Mattia: and btw these IV wires? They give nutrients into your body. So your basically eating.

I look over to the wire impaled into my wrist. Tempted to rip it out.

Mattia: DONT even think about it. I know what your thinking.

Riley: you shouldn't have told me. Now I'm going to be constantly thinking about it.

Mattia: your not here that long. Just for tonight, and a little later tomorrow. Your being discharged at 3 they said. I don't care though I'm still spending the night.

Riley: Mattia?

Mattia: yes?

Riley: Thank you.

He smiles slightly and touches my face, lightly caressing my cheek with his fingers.

Mattia: of course.

He goes and sits back in the chair.

Riley: Actually, Mattia?

He looks back.

Mattia: yeah?

Riley: could you sleep in the bed?

Mattia: you sure?

Riley: please?

He smiles and walks towards you.

Mattia: of course Riley.

You smile and make room for him. He lays down and you could tell he was pretty tired. You both faced each other. He wrapped his arms around your waist and slowly drifted off to sleep with you....

I know this one is a little short but I'm like hella tired because I didn't sleep because of my scary ass sleep paralysis demon that scares me outta sleep😭 so imma take a nap. Thank you guys so much for so many reads and votes!! Couldn't be more thankful!!!❤️
