Liam jumped up from the couch when I walked in, and Malia, Kira, and Lydia stood as well. I dropped Stiles' hand, telling everyone to convene in the kitchen so Stiles could get some water while we talked. We gathered around the island, Liam sitting in the bar stool to my left. Kira was on my right and Stiles stood on the other side of the island from me between Kira and Malia, gulping down a glass of water.
"My dad's got an APB out," Stiles said once he'd drank the whole glass.
Kira frowned. "For a 5'8 16-year-old?"
"I recommended nine-foot tall rampaging werewolf," Stiles snarked. I held back a laugh at his response, chewing on my lip lightly.
"It still might not be him," Liam mumbled, then he turned his eyes to me. "Right?" I looked around at the group, each giving me 'don't lie to him' looks, and I sighed, setting my hand on Liam's. He dropped his head, sighing loudly. "Hayden's at the school looking."
"I can keep checking the woods," Malia offered, her eyes on me. I wasn't sure if this meant she was working on forgiving me, but I would take what I could get, so I nodded at her.
From behind me, Scott walked in saying, "My mom can check all the hospitals in the county. We can find him." He was dressed and carrying his helmet in his hand, and I wondered where he was going.
"What happens then?" Liam asked.
"We figure out a way to save him," I said, receiving a nod of agreement from Scott.
"Okay," Lydia said, though she looked slightly terrified. "Where else could we look?"
"Let's ask Corey," Scott said. He paused for a confusing second before swinging his arm out. I thought he was going to hit Melissa's china cabinet, but instead his fist curled into a shirt as Corey appeared in thin air. That little spy. Scott growled lowly at Corey, who rose his hands in defense.
"Wait, wait! I-It's not my fault," Corey stammered fearfully. "They took him and I couldn't do anything. They took him-."
"Who?" Scott said, still not releasing Corey.
"The Dread Doctors," Corey replied. My head went a little light as the thought of them rushed back to my memory. I thought I was done with them. I thought I'd never have to hear those awful words again. Liam's hand wrapped around my wrist as I stiffened, and he looked at me to ask if I was okay. I nodded quickly so he wouldn't say the question out loud.
"Okay. In that case, I think we better have a chat with Theo. Malia, you call Braeden, stay here in case Mason shows up. Corey, you go to the school with Hayden. Stiles and Lydia, you two go to the Sheriff's station. Liam and Y/N, you're with me." Scott said. He and Liam started walking out, but then Scott stopped suddenly, turning around to look at me. "Y/N, are you coming? I really need you with me on this one."
I looked around at all the eyes now on me, and I tried to swallow the vomit of fear that wanted to burst from my mouth. "I-I can't, Scott, I'm sorry. If they show up, I-I..." I trailed off, my head still shaking but it was because of the uninvited fear eating at me.
Scott took a step towards me, but Liam got to me first. He pulled me into the livingroom with him, Stiles following close behind. They both looked at me with their arms crossed and it was weird to see them on the same side.
"I think you should go," Stiles said first. My jaw dropped, doubts instantly running through my mind.
"Are you kidding? I could get someone killed. I can't."
"You can."
"No, there's no way I can do that. I won't put my pack at risk."
"You won't," Liam finally said. I quieted down since he had more to say. "Do you remember what you said to me when I was scared of the Berserkers?" I nodded hesitantly. "You said I was always going to be scared unless I fought back. You were right. Now's your chance to fight back."
