I spent some time with my own thoughts and Lydia. We laid side by side on her bed staring up at the ceiling. I told her the plan and I also told her all my concerns about everything, and she told me hers. They were all pretty concerning, especially when I told her we were letting Theo help after Liam brought him back to life. Still not happy about that, but what's done is done.

"I'm just confused," I sighed heavily.

"Worried."

"Terrified."

"Hopeful."

"Hopeful?" I wondered, turning my head to look at her, and she looked at me.

"Yeah. I hope we get him and everyone else back. You know, when I was with Lenore, I figured out she was a Banshee. You know what she told me?"

"What?"

"They always leave the Banshee behind."

"So... if we all get taken..."

She nodded and looked back at the ceiling. "I'll be the only one left in Beacon Hills."

"Wow..." My heart broke for her. I had my suspicions, but her confirming them felt awful. I didn't want to leave her to live like Lenore, and it gave me the courage to do what I had to do tonight.

"You know, if everything goes to plan, if we actually catch a Rider, it'll fix everything."

She hummed, but I could tell she didn't really believe me. I had to believe it, though. I had to believe I was risking my life for a reason, and saving Lydia from a fate like Lenore's seemed to be a great reason. "I hope you're right," she said.

"Yeah... Me, too."

We fell quiet again, each lost in thoughts about what needed to be done and how life might be if we failed. There were many things I envisioned, but the worst one was having to live on without Stiles. I didn't share this thought with her.

Natalie walked in, sitting on the edge of Lydia's bed as she smiled at us. "Still thinking about how to prove the Riemann Hypothesis?" I was about to ask what she meant, then I realized it was definitely a question meant for Lydia.

In a dry tone, Lydia replied, "I'm thinking about a dead kid we met in Canaan."

"Dead?" Natalie repeated confused and thinking that she probably didn't want to know.

"He drowned in 1985," I told her anyway.

"Okay..." Natalie sighed, blinking as she tried to find the right words to say. "Go on."

"His mom conjured him," Lydia said, and I listened to the new information Lydia was bringing to light. I hadn't known Banshee's could conjure up dead people. "To fill the void she felt after the Wild Hunt passed through Canaan."

"It makes sense... I think that's what Scott and I did. We couldn't handle the loss of Stiles so we created the whole fake relationship to cope." I thought for a second more before I sat up, realizing something that could be extremely important. "What if that's what Sheriff did with Claudia?"

"You think Claudia's dead?" Natalie asked as Lydia sat up, too, her eyes jumping around like she was reading words on a page as she processed my idea. "No, I just saw her."

"So many things don't make sense," Lydia said, coming to an agreement with my findings. I had told her about everything concerning Claudia, especially that she survived an un-survivable disease. The fact that her jeep was 'stolen 20 years ago', but it's Stiles'.

"You should've seen the look on her face when I peeled back the wallpaper. She wasn't just angry. She was scared," I said, the image of Claudia's expression passing my mind.
