There was a furious growl from behind me, and my eyes snapped open as Liam ran past me. "Liam, no!" I screamed, but he was already knocking the Rider of his horse. His growled never stopped as he perched over the Rider, sending wave after wave of punches to his face. None of us could get out of the circle of horses to help him, and I wanted to smack him for being to stupid.
The Rider pushed Liam off of him and got to his feet, aiming a gun at him. I roared at him, prepared to jump out as well, but the Rider instantly turned and shot his bullet right into the kid behind me, who also vanished into green smoke.
Liam was able to get back into the circle, all of our eyes glowing through the rain as we kept eyes on the Riders. The water and saliva dripped down my fangs as I bared them.
"We can't fight them!" Liam yelled.
"Protect Gwen," Scott said. Disobeying our exact rules, Gwen pushed her way out of the circle, looking one of them dead in the face as if daring them to shoot her. That when I realized it's what she wanted. They took her sister, and she wanted to be with her sister just like I wanted to be with Stiles. I had faith that we would get them all out.
Scott tried to pull her out of the way of the gunshot, but I yanked him back, and Gwen disappeared. "Why did you do that?!" Scott yelled, clearly angry.
"It's what she wanted! Relax! We'll get her back," I replied.
"Is it what you want?!" he shouted at me, getting right up in my face. When I didn't answer, he spat, "IS IT?!"
"I don't know!" I yelled back, backing away from him. "I just want Stiles back." Scott stepped down, sadness in his eyes. It wasn't the kind of sadness you feel when losing the love of your life, but rather the kind that I felt for him when I saved his life that night at the motel when the Darach had us in her palm. It was love, but a different kind.
"I won't let you do it," he said, shaking his head. Water droplets flew from the tips of his hair as he did so. "I won't."
I tore my eyes from his searing ones only to notice the Riders were completely gone. Liam and Corey were looking around trying to look for them, and they couldn't see them either, so I knew it had to be true. We were safe for now. The storm instantly stopped, the rain ceasing. I now noticed that Liam was giving me the same sad look Scott was.
"You weren't even going to fight?" he asked sadly.
For a minute, all I could do was look at the three boys standing before me, all eyes on me. They depended on me and I let them down. How much was I willing to do for this person whom I didn't even know? "Let's go inside. Mason said he was meeting Parrish there."
I stopped off with Scott while the others went to find Hayden and Mason, and Scott answered the phone call he was getting. It was a call from Melissa saying that someone broke the seal and everyone in the bunker was taken. Malia was at the hospital and Argent was hurt. Melissa was taking care of them, but we had to get to them soon.
With a sigh, I said, "We lost everyone we were supposed to save."
"We didn't lose you," he replied quietly, his face set in sadness.
I crossed my arms over my chest, casting my gaze to the ground. "I'm sorry. I was just thinking that if I was taken, too, maybe I could help from that side."
Scott took my hands in his, gazing at me seriously. "But I need your help on this side. I can't do this without you, Y/N/N."
What I wanted and what I needed to do differed, and in this situation, I had to decide on whether to listen to my heart, which told me to run to Stiles, or to my head, which said Scott needed our pack. I needed to put away my own desires to do what was best for the pack. "I'm not going anywhere. I promise."
