There were a lot of ideas that could've been tossed around and all of them would've been smarter than the one Scott came up with. Unfortunately, his was probably the only one that even had a shot at working. That didn't mean I liked the idea.
"You're going to bite Stiles?" I repeated, staring at Scott incredulously. Me, Scott, Lydia, Liam, and Malia were at the Sheriff's station, trying to figure everything out. I gave Stiles being bitten a long and hard thought, but I realized I didn't want Stiles to be anything other than human. Not that he wouldn't make a great werewolf, but he was my human. I didn't want him to change.
Scott shrugged lightly, knowing that I hated he idea. "To get him through the rift. It's the only way." He walked to an unoccupied deputy desk and leaned against it while I stood to the side of it. Liam was on Scott's other side, and Malia and Lydia stood between him and I so we formed a circle around it. There was a map on the desk that we hoped would help us.
From over by the door, Peter rose his hand, saying, "Just to clarify, are you planning on biting everyone in the train station?"
"With Stiles back, he'll be able to help us figure out a plan," Scott said.
"He's good at that," Malia blurted to Peter, as if convincing him and herself.
"So the plan is to get Stiles to come up with a plan?" Peter chuckled.
"You can shut up now."
"Malia, look around. We're the only ones left in Beacon Hills. If they take us, Lydia will be the only one left to haunt the place." Lydia rolled her eyes at Peter's comment.
Scott nodded like he'd already thought of that. "That's why Y/N and I are the only people going in. Liam and Hayden will stay here with Mason. As long as somebody is left in Beacon Hills, the Wild Hunt can't move on."
Still pacing the floor behind Malia and Lydia, Peter said, "I like your plan, Scott. I really do, especially the part about turning Stiles. But it can't work."
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Logic. Life experience," he quipped. "What are the odds that you'll get taken? What if Stiles isn't there? What if there's no Beacon Hills for you to come back to?" I had to admit, he made some fair points.
"You got a better plan?" Liam asked, rising Peter's frustration.
"Yeah, it's called 'run like hell'!" He paused for a minute, looking at all of us. "So... leave in five?" I glared at him before completely ignoring him to hammer out the details with the others as Malia stepped over to talk to him in private. Though it wasn't very private, considering all of us could hear.
He told her he wouldn't help her commit suicide, which is what would happen, apparently, if we found the rift. It almost sounded like he cared for her.
I frowned, standing up straighter as I talked over them. "If you can't help, we can find it ourselves. We don't need you."
"Y/N," Peter hummed. "I admit that you have a flair for beating the odds, but this? You don't walk away from. You run." He walked backwards towards the door, giving Malia a warning look, then he turned and left the building. I sighed sadly as I watched Malia stare at the door, a frown etched onto her face.
I walked over to her, pulling her in for a hug that I knew she needed. She embraced me back, though it was like she was trying to hide her emotions. Those were something she couldn't hide from me. When I pulled back, she offered me a small smile that I returned.
"Let's go find that rift," I said. She nodded, smoothing out her shirt, and the others packed everything up. "Liam, will you go find Hayden and Mason? Clue them in on the plan?"
