Tw. Unsympathetic Roman

Deceit has always been one for lying. However, when it came to something as important as, say, a name.

He never kidded around.

Especially with his name.

"You have got to be joking," Roman speaks up first. Deceit looks at him, raising an eyebrow. "I mean, other names would be crazy. Maybe crazier. But Janus?"

"I would never joke around with something this serious," Janus responds. Logan smiles.

"I like it." He says. Patton, Remus, and Virgil all agree.

"Janus is literally the stupidest name I have ever heard," Roman responds.

The rest of the sides turn to him in utter shock.

"I mean, what are you? A middle-aged librarian?" He continues. Janus scowls.

"Gee, Roman, you're lucky you don't have a moustache. If that were to be, I would have a lot more trouble telling who really is the evil twin." He snaps. Roman looks taken aback but Remus doesn't seem hurt by the comment.

"Roman, that's not very nice. I say you apologize to Janus." Patton says sternly. Roman scoffs.

"He insulted me. I am not the evil twin. I am the hero!" Roman shouts.

"You insulted me first, Roman. You insulted me and something I wasn't very nervous about sharing to all of you for this exact reason." Janus hisses.

Then, he sinks down without another word.

Janus sits in his room, anger and sadness washing over him. He was on his bed, laying down and staring at the ceiling.

Suddenly, a knock comes to his door.

"Don't go away." Janus snaps. A moment after when Janus thinks they walk away, his door opens. He groans sitting up and turning to the door. "Did you not hear me?" He hisses lowly.

"We did. You said 'don't go away'." Logan says.

"I- You-..." Janus groans. "Whatever. Come in, I guess."

Logan, Remus, Patton, and Virgil walk in and sit with him on his bed. Patton suddenly speaks up, getting right to the point.

"I'm sorry Roman said that to you, Janus. I think you have a lovely name and he has no right to insult what you didn't choose." He says quickly. Janus sighs.

"It doesn't matter. It didn't hurt me, anyways." Janus lies fluently. Remus stares at him knowingly.

"Janus, I know when you're lying. You've lived with me for Thomas' whole life." He says. Janus scowls.

"Fine, whatever. He insulted me and it hurt. My name is something I'm... Insecure about, which is why you didn't know it for this long and him insulting that did not make it better." He snaps.

The other sides are silent for a moment before Logan speaks up.

"De- er... Janus. He had no right to say that. You have every right to be hurt. But please don't hide it from us. We only want to help." He says. Janus hesitates momentarily before nodding.

"Okay..." He whispers. Patton gives Janus a quick hug.

"Come on. Let's watch a documentary, Janus." Virgil says, patting Janus' back lightly.

"Okay," Janus says again.

They end up watching a documentary on snakes until each of them falls asleep.
