I packed my bags and met Ezra at the airport the following day ... we were heading back to New York."Are you nervous?" He asked me, I turned around in my seat to face away from him, that was the most we conversed until we got to the Cromwell's penthouse. Now this felt like home.
"Mr and Mrs Reed, pleasure you meet you again." An older couple walked up to us and greeted us, "Addison I heard that you were in a car accident recently are you okay?" I nodded as I recognised the couple.
The older man was Thomas Cromwell, a serious investor in art and seemingly he's also into graphic design and the woman was Louise Cromwell, a fashionista of New Your City back in the 80's and a personal role model of mine.
"I'm sorry if it's inconvenient to stay in our home but Louise didn't think that it was right for you to stay in a hotel last time." Thomas conveyed, they showed us to their beautiful spare room.
The whole house had a vintage New York feel that was inspired by Coco Chanel, the only problem with the room is that there was only one bed. It was already night and we were both too tired to argue against it.
Ezra began to settle down on the couch but it was obviously too small for him, we locked eyes as he was trying out his new bed and I was coming out from the shower. We quickly turned away and blushed.
"You can sleep in the bed if you want." I muttered in embarrassment, "I mean, it's a big bed, we can both sleep in it and be far apart." I urged him to settle down and have a comfortable sleep on the bed.
"Have you been okay?" He asked just before we went to sleep, "yeah, have you?" I answered, "yeah okay, my hotel room isn't as comfortable though." I rolled my eyes, "then go back home, if you really don't want t breathe the same air as a 'murderer' then I can move into a hotel."
I could feel Ezra turn around to face my back, "I'm sorry about what I said, I know you're not irresponsible, in fact you're more mature and independent than you used to be. I'm afraid that you could just walk away and be fine without me, after all you don't remember anything about me."
I shuffled to face him in the bed too, "it's scary being on my own, people can sympathise with me but no one knows what I'm going through, I don't even know who I am." Ezra out his arm around my body to comfort me.
"I'm here I guess, if it's any constellation I know that you would never kill anyone, and if if you did cover up a murder ... you obviously did it to help someone, because that's who you are no matter how many times you forget your memories. You help others. Even if you have a bad attitude." I smiled at his face in this pitch black darkness.
"Can you get rid of your habit to push people away with words that will hurt them the most, it doesn't exactly make you friends." I could tell that he was smirking, "sorry it's an old habit I have." He said before we both drifted off to sleep.
The next morning Ezra has a meeting with Thomas and I had breakfast with Louise. We were supposed to have lunch together as well but one of her friends had an emergency so I went out shopping alone.
It was weird seeing how only six years changed so much yet so little.
"Addison Robinson?" I turned around to see a 'friend' from high school, Courtney.
"Oh my god I haven't seen you seen out graduation party, how have you been!" She came up to me and hugged me whilst squealing. "It's weird seeing you as an adult." I smiled at her "same!"
She grabbed her phone and began texting a lot of people - I'm guessing everyone from high school, "do you want to meet at the Fer Se at five, everyone wants to meet you again" I nodded - hoping that the restaurant was still in the same place as it used to be.
"Ezra!" I called out to him as I opened the door to our room, "I ran into a girl from high school and I'm meeting them at a restaurant in a couple hours with all my other friends." I told him as I scurried around looking at my new channel purchases to try and find a good outfit to wear that screams 'I'm still better than you'.
"Do you want me to come?" He asked, I turned around and smiled at him, "could you come pick me up after a couple hours, I probably have the best husband out of all of them, It'd be great to rub that in their face!"
"Great to know that our marriage has a lot of depth to you." He muttered whilst sifting through his emails.
I ignored him and went back to getting ready.
