"I heard you're going home tomorrow Mrs Reed." Elena Vanderburg started a conversation with me after breakfast the next day. "I was going to go home today but Charlotte wanted me to stay for another day." I answered as we sat down in a study."I'm glad you're here actually, I've live with my cousin for five years now and this is the most happy I've seen her in a while." I sipped my tea, waiting for something to come up for the conversation to change.
"Actually I'm a bit jealous of you too, not only could you change Charlotte, you also changed Ezra." I put down my tea cup, wondering to what she was up to. "You must know of our history," she waited for my affirmation before continuing, I nodded letting her continue.
"I can't lie that when we were engaged I had some feeling for him, but his business was quite small for someone like me and I could never read him. So we ended it and a couple years later I got an invite to his wedding." She smirked.
"To be honest I felt bad for you, I knew who you were and thought that Ezra had found another high-end girl to marry. But to my surprise it wasn't the same Ezra I knew, he genuinely cared for you and was considerate. Unlike how we were." I smiled politely at Elena, I still wanted to slap her but I had the high ground here.
"Well different couples are different, you should find a guy that treats you like how Ezra treats me" I gushed, Elena just smiled half heartedly back at me. "I hope you know how lucky you are to be with someone like Ezra."
I huffed before I replied to her "if you're saying that as a stockholder than I'll take it as a compliment, but if you're saying that in any other way then I'll have to ask you to mind your business. I think I've over stayed my welcome now, I'll go home today ... oh and one other thing, I'm not lucky to be with him, I'm lucky that I can stand beside him and he's lucky for that aswell."
I got up and went to Charlotte's room, I said goodbye to her and thanked the Vanderburgs for accommodating me before they sent me home with a driver. "Can you drop me off at a hair dressers instead please." I asked the man, he agreed and dropped me off.
"Hi do you have an appointment ?" I flashed my black card at the receptionist, "I don't have an appointment but do you think that I can get my hair cut now?", she smiled and nodded, guiding me over to a hairdresser.
"What are we doing today?" She asked as she accessed my hair, I looked at my long bleach blond highlighted hair, this is how past me chose her hair. High school me would want golden highlights with collarbone length hair, but I'm new me.
"Can I get rid of my highlights and have my hair cut to my shoulders?" I asked, it had been awhile since I had my normal dark brown hair, even longer if you count the extra six years. But if I look at myself with this hair I'll always feel like I'm trying to be someone else.
I came home and unpacked early, it was only three so I had time to kill before Ezra came home. But all I wanted to do was lay down in bed, the sheets still had his scent lingering, I didn't realise that time had gone by as soon I heard the door open.
I walked out of our room to see Ezra surprised that I was here, "Addy, your hair." I smiled, not holding back my tears. "I cut it" I beamed. He walked over to me to hold me in his arms. "Are you okay now?" He softly asked me, I nodded.
Ezra picked me up bridal style and laid me down on our bed to talk, "have you decided on what you want to do?" He asked me, his hand stroking my side. "I've been stuck for ages between wanting to be teenage me and trying to be the me you fell in love with. For a while I was too scared to get my memories back because if I didn't change back once I got my memories back I thought that you would leave me."
Ezra didn't say anything but hummer indicating that he was still listening, "but I want to be confident in myself whether or not I get my memories back doesn't matter to me anymore, I want to be confident in myself again. And besides we can always create more memories." His expression was still to hard to read but he wasn't snapping at my decision, so that should be a good thing.
"You know, if you told me that a couple months ago I would've sent you back to live with your parents. For a while I thought that you erased me from your memories because you didn't value me as a family as we aren't blood related, I was angry at you for a long time." I smiled at him with caution, "and now?" I asked.
"And now I realise that your accidents were something that neither of us could've prevented, it's not your or mine fault that this has happened. We've both suffered a lot and I think that we should move on instead of fixating on it, this shouldn't define our relationship." I stroked his cheek after he spoke, "mr Reed you really like me then?" I smirked.
"Are you not doubting me anymore?" He asked, I shook my head "that came from a place where I didn't have confidence in myself and blamed it on you, as long as you don't hide anything from me we should be fine." I joked as I kissed him.
Ezra froze in deep thought for a while, "are you hiding anything from me?" I giggled playfully, he shook his head and patted my hair before wrapping me in his arms.
