Ezra's POV -

"Look Wren I need to talk to you about something." I grabbed his arm to motion him over to my study where Addy couldn't hear us.
"What is it?" He questioned, I sighed "when Addison was in the hospital, the doctor said that some past trauma from her graduation night lead her to have amnesia. Your mother said that it was because her friend died that night, what exactly happened that night?"

Wren began to shake at the memory, the color in his face had washed away. "That night..." he echoed, "you can't tell Teddy, if she found out, I don't know what she would do. Promise me you won't tell her?" He practically begged, I don't want to keep anything from my wife, but if this secret could put her in any risk, then I'm fine with the consequences.

I nodded "I promise not to tell her." Wren sighed in relief and hauled himself into one of the chairs to sit down. "Lily and Charlotte were two big parts of Addy's life, they still are. But she felt like she let them both down around the time that she got into that accident. They both betrayed her that night aswell."

I looked over at him confused, "I know that her friend cheated on her, but what did her sister do?" Wren looked like he was about to cry.

"She didn't trust Addy, I guess she never really trusted any of us. To lily we were just the rich cousins, the family that was never in her reach, to Addy lily will alway be her baby sister, but Lily always had resentment towards us that Addy didn't see." I grew more confused at what Wren was trying to say.

"Our parents and I both knew that Lily was unstable, she saw that she could gain attention from Addy by being scared of lightning and pretending to be scared of it, and when Addy wasn't around she didn't react. But then Addy went to middle school where people began to care more about social standing and Lily couldn't use those tricks for attention anymore. She tried to actually hurt herself instead of pretending so that Addy would pay attention to her. It worked until high school when Addy had Charlotte now, and Lily thought that meant that there was no more room for her. Plus Lily was getting bullied a lot at school by the girls that wanted to attack Addy but couldn't... I think Lily began to resent Addy then, the love Lily has for my sister turned into something none of us knew that Lily could bear." Wren croaked the last sentence just thinking about six years ago.

"I don't know all of the details, but around the time of my sister's graduation Lily began to realise that Addy would leave for college and began to be reckless, she already hated that my sister made some guys in her year keep an eye on her as she got bullied more by jealous girls. Lily would scream and cry randomly but we all just thought that she was struggling with school ... until that night."

I began to tap my fingers against my desk as I Wren began to round the story up "after Addy's graduation party, she saw James and Charlotte kiss and took Charlottes car whilst drunk to come home as she was worried about Lily. She had been acting weird all day and was home alone at the time, so Addy went home to make sure that she was okay ... but Lily had written a note for Addy, left at the door. She blamed Addy for everything, the cops said that Addy must've gone upstairs to Lily's room after she realised what the note was, as Lily was trying to bleed herself to death by slitting her wrists ..."

Wren took a heavy breath out and slowly continued, "Addy had grabbed one of the blades, but Lily not being sane at the time, she stabbed Addy in the chest with one of the blades. Once Addy had woken up after an hour or so Lily had already overdosed beside her. Addy tried to haul her into Charlotte's car but they got into a fatal car crash moment after Addy began to drive to the hospital. The worst part is that Lily died from the crash not the pills."

I lost my grip on the desk and stumbled for a second before I stood up properly again, "Addy spent most of her life only worrying about Lily, whilst my sister was in a comatose state none of us knew how to tell her that she was gone. My parents were so relieved that Addy lost her memories that they just wanted to start anew with her."

It was too much to take in, my addy that always smiles and tries her best had to experience that, it makes me sick. But there was one thing I needed to confirm before I made any decisions "so are you saying that Addison should never get her memories back?" I trembled are the thought of the answer.

I could practically hear Wrens thoughts from across the silent room, we were probably thinking the same things. "Do you know why I call my sister Teddy?" I shook my head, confused as to how this answered my question.

"When I was young I had a teddy that my mom said would protect me so I always kept it on me, one summer when we were staying at the Hamptons me and Addy got kidnapped. I lost my teddy on the way to that house where we were held for a couple days, I kept crying because I thought that we were going to die without my teddy, although Addy was only six at the time she kept calm and tried to calm me down too. She must have been freaking out too but yet she told me to stay behind her the whole time, after we were released I realised that I didn't need that teddy to be safe as my sister was far better. If six year old Addy could get through that I believe that she can eventually handle the news, I just don't want you to force her to do anything that she doesn't want to do." Wren sincerely smiles at me.

"I better get to sleep, I have a bunch of conferences tomorrow." Wren added before leaving my study.

When Addy woke up and forgot her memories of me all I could think of was myself, how could she so easily erase me. But I get it now, I've been so stuck in feeling sorry for myself and pretending that I'm okay with all of this that I forgot about Addy. She's always put herself in harms way to protect the ones she loves, she's done the same for me countless times, I should do that for her too.
