•The next chapter•

Marilla had to wake anne up since she woke up first and knew that Anne wasn't going to get up early on a weekend. Today was the day , Marilla had to take Anne to queens . She would help her out with her package then she had to leave. Anne stayed up the whole night scared to death just thinking about it. Marilla knocked on the door loudly . Anne opened her eyes with furrowed eyebrows forgetting that today was the day. Once she actually realized why Marilla was waking her up so early she jumped out of bed and threw on her clothes. Marilla was standing outside of her door waiting for Anne to come out.

"Good morning Marilla. I still can't believe it , I'm going to college!" Anne said smiling , walking past Marilla with her suitcase. Marilla chuckled and followed Anne downstairs. Anne gasped when she saw the breakfast Marilla had made. It must've taken her a long time , it was scrambled eggs with pancakes. It had some berries too.

Anne turned around to Marilla who was trying to hide her cry. Anne hugged Marilla with a smile before digging into this feast.

They were at the train station. It was real , she was actually going to college. Anne couldn't believe it . Four years of living in green gables , it felt like just yesterday Anne had arrived at green gables finding out that the Cuthberts really wanted a boy. Anne sighed waiting for Diana to arrive. They were riding along with Marilla.

Once Anne looked up she saw Diana running towards her. A huge smile came upon her face as she got up to meet with Diana.

"Oh Diana. Today's the day. We're finally here. We're queens students now!" Anne squealed with excitement. They heard the train conductor yelling out that they had to board. Marilla helped Anne with her three bags and they got on the train.

"Good morning Miss Cuthbert. Lovely day isn't it" Diana said once she sat down beside Anne on the train. Marilla simply nodded her head and looked out the window. Anne and Diana had much to talk about.

"Ruby , Jane , Josie and Tillie are all going to queens Anne. Everyone!" Diana said with a smile. They held hands out of excitement, barely being able to hold in all the butterflies.

"It'll be a wonderful year. Than after we'll have to figure out what we're doing with our life's" Anne laughed and Diana let go of Anne's hand. Anne turned her head in confusion seeing that Diana didn't look very good.

"What is it Diana?" Anne asked rather confused. Diana seemed fine up until Anne had spoken of the future. Diana opened her mouth dreading to say what she was about to.

"I've decided after I go to queens I'll be marring Fred" Diana looked at Anne waiting for a whole loads of reasons why it was such a terrible idea. But Anne said nothing. She didn't even look that upset.

"Well say something" Diana said eager to find out what her bosom friend was thinking about. Anne smiled and looked at Diana seeing that Marilla had dozed off not even ten minutes on the train.

"You told me that you'd go to college than get married . I totally support you. I think you should do whatever feels best for you" Anne said seeing that what she had said made Diana look a lot more calmer. Diana went in her a hug and Anne hugged her back.

They had arrived to queens. Anne looked at the big building. There was so much history that she just had to learn about . They made their ways to their dorms rooms after talking to the head mistress.

"I think it's this one Anne" Diana pointed to a door . It was white with a gold door knob. Anne twisted it open and opened her mouth in awe. It was everything she'd ever imagine. The wallpaper was light blue and it had dressers and closets. Two desks that way Diana and Anne didn't have to share. They looked at eachother and nodded their heads with huge goofy smiles. They ran into their new dorm room and jumped on the bed. Laying on the backs with a sigh. Staring at the ceiling in silence. Marilla knocked on the door which made the two girls jump.

"Anne would you help me. I'm afraid I'm getting a little too old to be carrying this much luggage" Marilla said as she dragged Anne last suitcase out behind her. She left it in the middle of the room saying that it was too heavy and she'd meet Anne outside. Her train was leaving sooner than expected so she couldn't help Anne unpack.

Anne made her way down the stairs of her dorm building and opened the big door. She saw Marilla sitting on a bench just outside the dorms property.

"So I guess you're leaving now" Anne said sitting down next to Marilla. Marilla had closed her book that she brought and laid it down beside her. She nodded her head staring at Anne. She stood up holding Anne's hand smiling .

"You are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me anne" Marilla said which of course made both her and Anne tear up. Anne smiled with a tear running down her face and looked back up at Marilla . With their hands still holding anne hugged Marilla very tight. So tight that she couldn't really breathe. But she didn't care , Anne was leaving green gables . When she would go back it would be an empty house. Matthew gone , Anne gone , Jerry still works there but it won't be the same.

"I'll miss you and I love you so much Anne" Marilla said as they pulled away from each other crying . Anne wiped a tear away and said "I love you too. I'll see you on Christmas" Anne waved as Marilla picked up her book and started her way to the train station.

Over at U of T Gilbert had just finished off for the day. Every day he went to the post office to see if Anne's letter came in yet. It hadn't , he knew it wouldn't be weeks until he would get it but it was still worth a shot.

"Good afternoon Gilbert , here to see if a letter is in for you?" The post office man asked. Gilbert nodded his head with a friendly smiled. The man went into the back and Gilbert waited impatiently. Once the man came back with no letter he shook his head and Gilbert waved saying goodbye . He couldn't wait until the letter would come in. He loved reading Anne writing . He knew by now anne had to be at queens. He was so excited for her , he just couldn't wait for Christmas any longer. He couldn't leave and go to her because the patients needed him. The only way he can speak with Anne was through letters.

Anne and Diana had finished up with unpacking and organizing their dorm. They finally got to sit and rest when they heard laughing and giggling outside their door. Their eyebrows rose and got up from their beds. Their door opened and they saw all of their friends .

"Anne! Diana! We made it! We're queens student" Ruby said as the girls were laughing. Anne nodded her head still wondering why they were there.

"So , want to go to a coffee shop? Now that we're allowed to!" Josie asked very excited. Diana quickly nodded her head very eager to go . Anne hesitated before answering but agreed.

The girls had picked a coffee shop they were going to go in and opened the door. They found a table and the waiter came along.

"Good afternoon ladies. What can I get for you?" He asked . Josie smiled at him and forgot what she was ordering. Tillie and Jane couldn't help but laughing at her . Anne ordered and then Diana.

"So Ruby , you and Moody!" Anne said very happy for her. Ruby nodded her head very fast. All the girls started to talk about their wedding.

"Have I told any of you?" Diana asked . All the girls shook their heads confused what Diana was saying.

"I'm engaged to Fred!" Diana rose her hand to show off the ring . Everyone's mouth dropped open in shock.

"Oh my god what!" Tillie said with excitement in her voice. Diana nodded her head and Ruby's mouth was still open.

"Oh my god . You , Anne and I are all engaged! Who's wedding is coming first?" Ruby said . Anne shook her head knowing that she was out. Gilbert and Anne were waiting until after school

"Anne and Gilbert are waiting until after school so not them. Fred and I are waiting until college is over. When are you and moody getting married?" Diana Asked.

"I think soon. Around Christmas break" All the girls started to laugh and talk about Ruby's wedding. The more and more they spoke about it the more Anne missed Gilbert. She couldn't wait until Christmas.
