•The Wait•

Anne and Gilbert had woken up early to get to the train in time. Anne couldn't stop thinking about Marilla , how terrible she felt for leaving her at green gables when she was ill. She was grateful for Jerry and that he had kept his promise to write her if anything had happened . As they were standing there waiting for the train Anne felt something grab her hand . She turned over to look at Gilbert who had a sympathetic smile on his face. Anne smiled at the young man .

"I hate to leave you so early in your career here" Anne sighed . Gilbert shook his head " it was only for a year anyway. I didn't know if you were going to stay for a year or longer so I told the doctors there that I'd only be here for a year." Gilbert explained leaving Anne confused. "Well I thank you for that . It means a lot to me that you care" Anne smiled . "Of course I do anne. I am your fiancé" Gilbert beamed just thinking about Anne in that way. Anne nodded her head while looking around to see if there were any places to sit.

"Could we sit down. I have a feeling we were a bit early to arrive" she chuckled . Gilbert quickly agree and grabbed the luggage from the wooden floor underneath them. He made his way to the closet bench which was just beside the train station.

Back at green gables Diana and Fred had been visiting Marilla every other day. Diana knew that if her mother was ill she'd want Anne to make sure she was doing well. And even though Fred didn't know Marilla all that well he knew that it meant a lot to Diana. So he came along.

"Hello?" Diana knocked on the door of green gables . To her surprise a tall brunette boy answered the door with a greeting smile. "Oh Diana! How lovely to see you. And you are?" Jerry turned to face Fred . He stuck out his hand for a shake "I'm Fred ( I forget Fred's last name , whoops) . I'm Diana's husband" he said as Jerry nodded his head while shaking Fred's hand.

"Okay well then. Now that everyone knows eachother may we see Miss Cuthbert?" Diana interrupted the some what awkward conversation. Jerry nodded his head and moved out of the way to allow the married couple into the house.

"Marillas just upstairs" Jerry told them. He headed out to the barn after telling them. Normally Diana and Fred come later on in the day so Jerry never sees them. But today was different , Diana had planned to come a little earlier after she heard that Jerry had sent a letter out to her kindred spirit .

"Bash!" Mary yelled from the downstairs. Their breakfast had been ready for over 30 minutes and Mary was getting inpatient. After no word from Bash she made her way upstairs to see what on earth he was up to. She looked into their bedroom and saw Bash sitting down in a chair with Delphine in his arms. Both sound asleep . Mary tried to hold in her laughter but couldn't contain herself. Suddenly Bash jumped from being asleep which made Delphine jump as well. "How long have you been there?" Bash Asked still half asleep . Mary shrugged her shoulders and began to speak. "Breakfast has been ready for a while now. Might want to get down there before it gets even more cold" she said as she started to walk towards the stairs.

Bash sighed and looked at Delphine who had passed back out into a sleep. He slowly picked her up and placed her in her small little crib. Before making his way downstairs he lifting the little blankets over Delphine and tucked her in.

"Bash!" Mary yelled even more annoyed. Bash couldn't help himself from laughing as he made his way down the stairs. "Well doesn't this look lovely" Bash complimented Mary's cooking before taking a seat. Mary smiled at the man before taking a bite out of her toast.

It had been ten minutes since Gilbert and Anne had sat down . Which to Anne felt like an hour. Gilbert realized Anne's leg bouncing up and down ever so slightly and placed his hand on top of her leg. He looked up at her with a reassuring smile and said " everything will be okay. You'll get there , she'll be so happy to see you. You'll talk for hours , make some food and probably talk some more. The doctor will come over the next day and will clear her!" He said trying to lift her spirits but knowing Anne it didn't help. She thanked him but still felt down.
