Chapter 28: Clan Match

Y/N POV

Right now, Naruto was putting on an ointment he got from Hinata. He healed pretty fast. Me? I'm bored out of my mind right now. My match will most likely be the last. This is probably because I'm an extra member in a team but, can't change that. The board starts to cycle through the names again, choosing who would participate in the next match. The next contenders, had to be pure bad luck. I heard about the history of the Hyuga clan.

Hinata, I'm so sorry. The next contenders were her and Neji, her cousin. Neji came from the branch family of the Hyuga clan while Hinata came from the main family. From what I read and what Grandmaster Hasashi told me, the branch family held certain grudges against the main family. Neji is going to be so hard on Hinata. She shouldn't experience that kind of treatment from him. I could see her eyes widen in fear. He's not going to go easy on her.

They both walk up and stand before each other.

Y/N: This match won't end well.

Sakura: Why?

Y/N: (looks to Sakura) Neji comes from the branch family of the Hyuga clan and they had certain grudges against them. You can guess who came from the main family.

Sakura: Hinata...

Y/N: That's right. Knowing their past, it's likely Neji won't go easy on her.

Neji: Never thought I would go against you, Lady Hinata.

Hinata: Brother Neji...

Sakura: Brother?

Naruto: They're siblings!?

Y/N: They're cousins actually. Neji is just older. (thoughts) You should back down, Hinata.

Sakura: So this is a fight between relatives then. This must be hard on them.

Lee: Yes. Although...

Sakura: What?

Y/N: Remember when I said they held grudges? (Naruto and Sakura nod) There were some concerning things between the head family and the branch family back then.

Lee: Yes. Their relationship right now is not a good one.

Naruto: Hmm. Why?

Lee: I do not know the details myself.

Sakura: Do you know Y/N?

Y/N: I'd rather not say. It is a sensitive topic when I learned about this. If you wish to know though, you may have to ask one of those two when the match finishes but, I'd rather not recommend it because it is a very sensitive topic.

Lee: But what we can say though is that a famous clan like them and the Uchiha clan had special abilities. They had specific rules about communicating those abilities and most of those rules were in favor of the head family.

Y/N: (nods) Yes. These rules are what caused the tension.

Sakura: So this is a confrontation billed as a clash of fate.

Kakashi: Oh? It's about to begin.

We resume our attention to the battle. Hinata, you should forfeit the match.

Hayate: Please, start the battle!

Neji: I want to say one thing before we start this battle. I should advise you, Lady Hinata. Withdraw! You are not suited for being a shinobi.

Hinata: (eyes widen)

Neji: You are too nice. You wish for harmony to avoid conflict, and you are open to going with the thinking of others. Not only that, you lack confidence in yourself. You are always inferior. You thought it was a good idea to stay a Genin. However, you could not register for the Chunin Exam without three members, so you could not turn it down when Kiba and the other proposed it, and that very truth is, you joined the exam reluctantly. Is that wrong?
