Chapter 30: The Shirai Ryu Burns Bright Again

Y/N POV

Lee was taken away by the paramedics. He earned my respect as a warrior and he's earned the right of being a splendid ninja of just using Taijutsu. I jumped down with Naruto to check up on him. His leg and arm looked to have received heavy damage considering it's broken. The medic and pulled Guy aside to speak with him. I focused and listened carefully on what they were saying.

Medic: There is a faint breathing but, because of the many fractures and the muscle tears in his body, he will be in recovery for quite some time. The damage that his left arm and leg suffered, is very severe. Too severe in fact. I really don't want to say this but, he won't be able to live as a shinobi again.

My eyes widen in shock. His damages are so severe, he won't be able to be a ninja again. I can't tell Sakura the news. She'll be heartbroken.

Y/N: Naruto...did you hear what he said?

Naruto: ...Yeah.

Y/N: Don't tell Sakura this. She's already worried about Sasuke and recently Hinata after her match. If she finds about Lee's condition...

Naruto: Yeah...I know...

Y/N: (nods) Good. It stays between us.

I walk back up the upper area where Sakura was giving me a look of concern.

Sakura: (concerned) Is everything okay?

Y/N: (forced smile) Yeah. Everything's alright. They just said he'll be in recovery for awhile. (thoughts) I can't tell you. I'm sorry.

Sakura: You sure?

Y/N: Yeah. Everything's alright. (thoughts) He sacrificed something just so he could have a chance to fight us all. Damn it! Why couldn't the match be stopped earlier! I could have stopped it! Why didn't I move!

Sakura: (holds hand) Hey...that look shows that you seem guilty. Are you sure everything's okay?

Y/N: Yeah...

Sakura: Just remember...you can always talk to me about things.

Y/N: (smiles) Yeah...I know. Thank you.

Hayate: (cough) The tenth round is about to begin. Can both contestants please come forward!

Dosu: (walks up) Finally, it's my turn.

Y/N: (thoughts) So after this it's my match. Whoever lost previously and is able to still battle will have to fight me. If it's Sakura, I'd rather not fight her.

Hayate: Now then, let the tenth round begin.

Shikamaru: (smirks) Do your best man!

Ino: Fatso!

Y/N: (thoughts) (internal sigh) Ino probably did that to motivate him to win.

Choji: (pissed) I'll end this match and turn you into minced meat!

Dosu: Then let's not play around so I can finish you off quickly, Mr. Fatso.

Choji: (angered) You bandaged up cucumber! Ninja Art: Expansion jutsu! Followed up by the Konoha Taijutsu! All I have to do is avoid getting sound in my ear! Human Boulder jutsu! Hooray for big-goned! (turns into sphere and rolls)

Ino: (smiles) Yes! Squash him, Choji!

Dosu keeps dodging as Choji kept rolling around. The match ended surprisingly quickly as he crashed into the wall and Dosu jumped and punched him.

Choji: That's no use, I'm wearing ear plugs.

Dosu: No, this is the end. (flicks arm gauntlet)

The match ended with Choji looking extremely dazed.
