Book II, Chapter 22: Broken Promise

The smokescreen from Pain's attack still surrounded him. The Akatsuki leader walks slowly, seeing if there was anyone left.

As he kept walking, the ground below starts to shake as a sharp object pierces through. Kakashi then rushes up, kunai in hand that is surrounded by electricity. Using his ability, Pain knocks Kakashi away, sending him back down as a crater appears under the White Fang of the Leaf.

Pain: You move quite well...and you have a wide range of jutsu. People like you need to be killed, or you may pose a problem later.

Kakashi: Now!

From the sides, Choza and Choji use their clan jutsu, rolling in to attack.

Choza: Double...

Choji: Human...

Choza/Choji: Boulder!

However, they were two slow as the Pain was using both his hands to repel the two attacks away from him, slowly.

The two recoil in pain, but they had chains running through the ground. Picking it up, they interlock Pain, preventing him from moving or being able to do any jutsu. With an opening, from behind, Y/N had Chidori active as well as Kakashi, both using a kunai covered in electricity as they rush forward to stab it in Pain.

The other two holding the chain struggle, even with Poney getting out of cover and assisting Choji in pulling the chain in hopes that Pain doesn't escape.

When Kakashi's blow hit, they instead strike the Pain that Kakashi had previously defeated. As for Y/N, he halted his attack as he drew his sword, blocking what seems to be a hook sword. A grey-purple blur had went past him. Y/N recognized this power.

He stared as the figure begins to circle around them. Y/N then drew three kunai knives, tossing it in the pathway. And in a second, the knives were blocked by two hook swords. The man who drew them had grey skin, red veins around him as he had a mask on his face.

Y/N: Kabal...

A bright light soon envelops the area as Choza had run to shield Choji from the light. Y/N quickly runs over to Poney, pushing her and himself into cover as the bright light continues.

The light recedes and the two Shirai Ryu clansmen look out of cover and they see that Pain himself was fine. But the former teacher of Team 7 however, does not seem to fare so well.

Pain: Your inability to move...doesn't seem faked.

The three of them look to see Choji and Choza lying on the ground. Kakashi was weakened, blood going down his forehead. Kakashi's attack didn't hit.

Y/N looks around to see if he could still spot the speedy revenant, but he was nowhere in sight.

Pain: I know you're not a Shadow Clone. I shall make certain of your death...it's over.

Y/N: (whisper) Poney...go to Tsunade-sama. Tell her of what we learned.

Poney: What!? I can't--

Y/N: Now. This is an order. Not a request.

Poney: ...Yes, Grandmaster.

Hesitant to leave her comrades, she does so as she left to head to Tsunade, telling them of vital information.

Pain: But just to be safe, I will not approach you. (lifts nail to fingers) Hmph...know pain.

Pain had lifted a nail up to his fingers, aiming for Kakashi's head. Y/N threw his marked kunai for the Flying Raijin jutsu, it zooms across the battlefield in order to block Pain's attack. It wasn't going to make it in time so Y/N did what he had to do.
