Book II, Chapter 26: Broken Bond And Old Memories

It had been hours since Naruto and Pain had left the area of Konoha. Team Guy had made it back to the Leaf Village to assist, but found no one to fight. Everyone was getting worried. It wasn't until green streaks of light could be seen in the air. 

They started to occur over the deceased, the dead soon coming back to life. But, they weren't revenants. They watched in shock as their brethren, clansmen, and loved ones were coming back to life.

Poney: What's going on!?

Cornelia: They aren't...turning into revenants...?

Y/N: 'Niichirin, what's going on?'

Niichirin: Pain had the Rinnegan. If this move is happening, then it's most likely the Rinne-birth.

Y/N: 'Rinne-birth?'

Niichirin: Whoever had the Rinnegan most likely gave up their life in exchange for these people to come back.

They then hear a noise, turning around to see Fukasaku wake up. The old toad sage looks around before turning to his wife.

Fukasaku: Ma? Where am I?

Shima then starts to scream in surprise, but in disbelief that her husband had come back to life right after he died.

Guy: Whoa!

Lee: What's going on, Guy-sensei?

Sakura: (thoughts) Fukasaku-sama was definitely dead! And yet...what just happened!? Did he...

The pinked haired girl look towards Y/N, who's eyes had been widened with shock as well. She didn't think the possibility of a demon within Fukasaku.

But, when she looked at Y/N, she felt a slight fear welling up within her. She was scared of him right now. She wasn't sure whether Y/N right now was him, or Niichirin.

In the Leaf Village, many of the fallen shinobi started to rise up from the debris. The clansmen of Y/N had found new strength to get up, no pain from when they died. They would clutch their heads, wondering what had happened.

When Y/N turned to Sakura, she quickly looked away, tending to Hinata, who had been healed by Sakura when Y/N brought her to her. Y/N was confused, but he had an idea of why she looked away.

Y/N: (thoughts) I see...she's afraid of me...isn't she? That technique...it turned me into a monster. But...it was a price I was willing to pay.

Poney: Grandmaster?

Y/N: Hmm? Oh, it's nothing. Hurry, go check for any fallen that have been resurrected. It's time we start healing the wounds and the damages.

Shirai Ryu Clansmen: Sir!

They disperse and Y/N glances at Sakura, who still refused to look at him. Tears slowly well up in his eyes, but he wipes them away.

Y/N: (thoughts) Now isn't the time to think of that. My clansmen...

The young Grandmaster begins to roam the destroyed streets of Konoha, checking on the innocents and the once fallen shinobi.

Timeskip-Few Days

Many foundations and scaffolding were set up around the once Leaf Village. With steady progress, and Yamato's wood jutsu, the buildings of Konoha was being restored.

The Shirai Ryu had helped however they could, escorting payloads of wood and shipments of other materials for rebuilding. The former Elite Seven were focused on scouting for any Netherrealm incursions, seeing if any portals had opened. Tsukushi and Green were in charge of a checkpoint, watching what came in and what came out into the village.
