Y/N POV

Time of Day-Dawn

I was now visiting Ibara and Mira who was in the hospital right now. While we had medics at home, they weren't as good as the medics here in the hospital so Lady Tsunade took it upon herself to train some of them so we didn't have to send our wounded to the hospital.

The guilt that lays upon me. I could have stopped it. I should have finished my battle much earlier and helped Asuma, hoping to have prevented his death. But instead, he fell in battle. While he did die with honor, I could have saved him still. I also learned that he was going to be having a child with Kurenai-sensei. A daughter to be exact. And now that girl will grow up without knowing who her father was.

I open the sliding door and the only one who was awake was Mira. She looks at me for a bit before looking down.

Mira: ...I'm sorry for being a failure, Grandmaster.

Y/N: (sigh) It wasn't your fault. It was mine alone.

Mira: I simply wasn't strong enough! I could have helped Ibara and yet--

Y/N: I should have finished my battle much earlier.

Mira: But that would have meant...

Y/N: Using that technique again and possible end my life? Yes. That would most likely have been the case.

Mira: But sir! The clan still needs you.

Y/N: While I know I am still the Grandmaster, I had a person in mind who lead in my absence.

Mira: Certainly you don't mean me sir...

Y/N: You have done well in my teachings. I am glad to have met you.

Mira: Even still...the clan sill needs you. You shouldn't fall just yet.

Y/N: Perhaps. I will let fate decide what happens to me. Rest up. You have done enough for now.

Mira: I can still be of use! I can still--

Y/N: Your well being is what matters most. So please...get some rest.

Mira: ...Yes...Grandmaster.

Y/N: Thank you for your time. Rest well. The clan needs your strength. And for that to happen, you need to be well rested.

I left the room soon after. I exited the hospital and I looked up at the sky. The rain patters quietly. It drenches my face. The sadness. Are the Elder Gods weeping?

I continue on to the clan grounds. Have I been leading things right? Was I truly the best candidate to lead these clansmen into battle? To defend the weak? The world? Was I truly the right choice father? I still question myself that. I'm still an inexperienced leader. I was met at the gate with Ichika who seemed to be ruining up to me with full speed.

Ichika: Grandmaster! (pants)

Y/N: What is it?

Ichika: A squad of ours has gone missing. The ones sent to track down where the Akatsuki base was.

Y/N: Has the location been found?

Ichika: No...the only thing we received from their messenger hawk was...

Ichika then brings out what appears to be a yellow head band. This belonged to one of the Ex-ninja from the Hidden Mist that sought refuge with us before he decided to join us. I took into my hands and I flipped it. It had a small sentence embedded into it. "For those I must protect, I cannot lose."

Y/N: ...And you say the went missing?

Ichika: Yes sir. We haven't heard from them since.

Y/N: Put their names on the message board. Also, have Hiashi forge some steel shoulder pads for me. These iron ones are getting outdated.
