BONNIE STAYED IN her bedroom for the next few days, only sneaking down for food when everyone was asleep. Her family had left her alone, and she knew why. They wanted her to feel pain, but they couldn't do too much more harm when they had a reputation to uphold. Bonnie would have to make an appearance at the Malfoy Ball, and she couldn't look atrocious with scars lining her throat and body.
The day of the ball was on Christmas Eve, and Bonnie was glad it was because she was quite ready for it to be over with. Her mother came up to her room that morning and threw a dress and a pair of shoes at her, literally. She threatened the girl to look decent before leaving. Bonnie was still sleeping when she was hit with a heel, so she really didn't hear if her mother had given her any other instructions. Bonnie really didn't care if she did, to be honest.
Getting up, she felt extremely dizzy and nauseous. Making her way to her en-suite, she tried her best to put on her best fake smile in the mirror when she reached it. She would see Marlene that night, so that was one thing to look forward to. Knowing she couldn't worry the witch, she found herself with new motivation to look as presentable as possible to make sure Marlene asked no questions.
After a long shower, Bonnie spent the day in her notebook, writing things she could remember about the Horcruxes or the potion and writing questions she had for Dumbledore. Putting her book in a safe spot, she noticed Sirius's jacket had something in his pocket. Moving to the jacket, and wincing from the soreness of her body, she pulled out an almost empty cigarette container.
Laughing evilly to herself, she took one out and lit it with his special lighter. Needing something to do, she found her paints and decided to paint his lighter. Painting over the boring black with a plain white, Bonnie decorated it for a long time, adding intricate details in red and gold. After smoking a second cigarette, she left the last four alone. He wouldn't be very happy if she used the rest, after all.
When it became time to get ready, she quickly braided her hair at the top, leaving the rest down. Using her mother's makeup she saw the woman had thrown into her room as well, she covered the bruise on her neck as best she could, but even then, it was still noticeable if someone looked hard enough. After adding a bit of mascara and lipstick, she was ready to just wipe it off and go to bed. Sighing, she put the make up down to face the monstrosity her mother wanted her to wear. She soon was dressed in a long, black dress. The dress was sleeveless, hugging her body tight. She hated it. Pairing it with the silver heels that almost impaled her that morning, she was ready to get the night over with.
Sirius woke up the morning of the ball with a newfound pep in his step. Regulus teased him when the boy came down for breakfast despite his mother's words. Sirius was just excited to see Bonnie, that was all.
Walburga again made it clear Sirius was to behave himself, but the boy ignored her as he made toast since Kreacher refused to serve him. Orion cleared his throat, warning Sirius to be nice to his mother, but Sirius only smirked and continued to ignore them both.
Once he had his toast, he happily told Regulus he would be in his room and left. Walburga broke her glass with her tight grip from anger.
Marlene grinned at the date on her calendar. Not only was it Bonnie's birthday, but she would actually get to see the witch. Getting up early, she kissed her parents on the cheek in 'good morning' before eating her breakfast while talking animatedly to them.
When the day passed awfully slow, Marlene knew it was because of how excited she was to see Bonnie. Grinning at her dress her mother picked out, she began to get ready, knowing it was far too early.
When Regulus came into Sirius's room, he relayed a message from Orion about wearing his nice dress robes and to tame his 'god-awful' hair. Sirius only grinned and waved off his brother, knowing he would look good no matter what he would do with his hair. When he waited until the last possible second to get ready, his father had stormed upstairs and threatened his wand. Sirius only smirked and moved to change, looking once at his father to leave the room.
