SIRIUS SNORED SOFTLY in Bonnie's ear. His arms tightened around her waist as he slept, barely any space between the pair. Bonnie had woken up screaming again, her back in immense pain. She had seen a vision of Voldemort killing a group of Muggles in a suburb that looked so similar. Sirius had only taken five seconds before running into her room with his wand pointed and chest bare. When he noticed Bonnie's quivering figure, he said nothing as he slipped into bed with her. Bonnie had yet to go back asleep, but the warmth of Sirius was lulling her slowly.
Sadly, the sun had come up before Bonnie could actually find peace.
Bonnie stirred her bowl of cereal quietly and absentmindedly. Her eyes felt heavy as it was only seven in the morning, but her eyes stayed opened. She almost screamed out in fright when a body fell into the seat next to her with his own bowl of cereal.
"I've been calling your name for a few minutes now," James said knowingly. "Why haven't you slept?"
"Bad dream," Bonnie mumbled, shoving the spoon in her mouth.
James nodded. "Yeah, I heard Sirius last night. He fell asleep in my room watching a film."
Bonnie nodded but didn't respond.
James nudged her side. "We get to see our friends today. That's something to look forward to, isn't it?"
Bonnie shrugged.
James pushed his cereal back roughly, milk splashing onto the table. Bonnie looked at him wide-eyed. "Nope. I refuse to let you be Miss Downer another day. You need to get out, do something! Moping about the house isn't helping!"
Bonnie glared at him. "Yeah, James. Let me go to the cafe down the street just to be killed! News flash! We can't go anywhere!"
James frowned at her harsh tone.
Bonnie sighed. "Sorry," she said quietly. James nodded, grabbing her hand. "I'm just still shaken from the letter I received a few days ago."
"What letter?" Sirius asked, walking into the kitchen with awful bed hair. He eyed James's hand intertwined with Bonnie's before moving to make himself toast. He turned to look at James. "Did you know of any letter?"
"No, mate. Bonnie?" James asked.
Bonnie cursed herself. With squinted eyes, she said, "A letter from Christopher—"
A crash was heard as Sirius dropped his plate. "Shit. Er... Reparo. Why the fuck is Christopher sending you letters!?"
Bonnie gulped. "He... he said he heard what I am from the Dark Lord's inner circle. He just made crude comments about what... what he did to me. He said he'll be the one to find me, and... Don't break another plate, Sirius!" Sirius released the deathly grip he held on it. Bonnie looked to James. "Which is why I don't want anyone to go anywhere... they'll be around, waiting."
Sirius sighed, walking to sit next to Bonnie. He grabbed her hand with a smile. "We can't hide forever. You know this better than anyone."
"I know! But after what happened to James and Lily, I—" Bonnie stopped herself, shaking her head and getting up to wash out her bowl.
"James and Lily what?" James asked, standing as well.
"I-I don't want to talk about my past life. It wasn't good. Nothing was good. I just need—I have to focus on finding those other Horcruxes. With the cup in Bella's hands, we'll need to try and find the locket and diadem this year. I need to speak to Helena. I need to—"
"You need to breathe," Sirius said quickly. "We'll get it done—"
"Don't say that! None of you know what it's like to be sucked into his brain and have to watch him murder people! None of you had to witness each death of someone you loved! None of you had to deal with the fact that the only person I've ever loved the way I do in this life and the last was sent to Azkaban for twelve fucking years while everyone else seemed to drop like flies—"
