NOW THAT MARLENE was out from the hospital, Alice and Frank were feeling a tad grateful for Dumbledore's 'prohibition' of missions until the new year. The pair decided to do a simple wedding, and much to their happiness, it would be a white, Christmas wedding.
Alice had begged Bonnie to be her maid of honor, which surprised the witch immensely. Alice took her aside, hugging the life out of her because she knew how much Bonnie had done and risked for the sake of their lives. Alice let Lily, Mary, and Marlene be bridesmaids, impressed with how quickly Marlene was able to plan the wedding's theme in a few short days.
Frank chose the Prewett twins for his best men (not choosing one over the other), and he was momentarily freaking out over the fact that Mrs. Longbottom would be helping Marlene with the wedding designs. He loved his mother, Frank did, but she was blunt and a perfectionist. He was just glad Mrs. Longbottom loved Alice the way she did.
Those invited were strictly restricted to the large group of Gryffindors, Regulus, Alastor Moody, Ted Tonks, Andromeda, Nymphadora, Molly, Arthur, Bilius, and the five Weasley children. Dumbledore would oversee the wedding, purely because he asked not because Frank or Alice preferred it.
Everyone was still on edge around the old wizard.
"Sweet boy, how much trouble have you been?" Bonnie asked, kissing Fred's cheek as she leaned over. The twins were getting big being eight months old. George was held by Lily, the redhead looking stunning in her dress. Alice had no dresscode, purely wanting the wedding to be informal and small. "You and your brother giving Molly hell?" she teased, laughing when the boy giggled at her words.
"Come on, Bill. Stop messing with your tie," Regulus groaned, ruffling Bill's hair as he entered the house with the two eldest Weasley children. They were at Mrs. Longbottom's large Manor, and the outside was where the wedding would be held. "Charlie, don't get chocolate on your slacks!"
Bonnie snorted, grinning when Fred reached for her necklace again. "Sounds like you're having fun, oh! Don't tug on it, Freddie," she warned, his bright eyes glimmering in amusement. He tugged on it. "You listen so well," she said sarcastically with a roll of her eyes.
"Bonnie! Alice is looking for you," Sirius proclaimed as he walked into the living room. He beamed at the sight of Bonnie holding baby Fred. "I'll take the little one."
As Bonnie handed Fred to Sirius, Fred frowned at the new arms. Sirius held him well, however, and Bonnie bit her lip, allowing herself to dream just a bit that they would get a chance to have a family like this one day.
"I'll be back," Bonnie whispered, kissing Sirius's cheek in passing. As she went up the staircase, she passed the Prewetts making jokes to a nervous Frank. Going up one more floor, she smiled softly at Marlene and Mrs. Longbottom tending to Alice's hair and makeup.
Marlene looked quite healthy again, and she was practically glowing with the new relationship that sparked with a certain Regulus Black. It was ironic since Walburga hated the McKinnons after Orion cheated on Walburga and had Mary as a bastard child. Of course, Mary was wonderful and happy with her adoptive parents, Bonnie just never would have thought Regulus would be able to break free from the mold his parents shoved him in. Marlene made him happy. That was all that truly mattered.
"I need your opinion. Smokey or natural? Marls can't decide," Alice asked when Bonnie walked in. Alice's hair was already short and fixed to perfection.
Bonnie hummed for a moment before saying, "Natural. You're quite beautiful, Al."
Alice grinned as Marlene got to work.
"May I have a word, dear?" Mrs. Longbottom whispered, walking over to Bonnie.
The pair walked to the bedroom, since the bride was being put together in the bathroom, and when they made it, Mrs. Longbottom seemed to think over her words carefully.
