EUPHEMIA POTTER USHERED the children into her home as soon as the words her son spoke registered in her brain. Marlene was picked up by James once Lily composed herself, the gash on Marlene's leg causing her to whimper in pain and not be able to walk. Remus and Peter helped each other walk steadily into the living room. Lily grabbed Bonnie's trunk and Mary's hand as the two watched Sirius limp with Bonnie in his arms. He refused Fleamont when the older man offered to take the witch since everyone could tell Sirius was in pain. Sirius wouldn't let Bonnie go.

Sending an immediate owl to Albus Dumbledore, Euphemia went straight to work on Marlene's splinch. Marlene protested as she moaned in pain because she wanted Bonnie to be okay first. Euphemia ignored her pleas and went to work on Marlene's leg.

Once Marlene was settled, Remus refused just as Marlene did, begging the older witch to check on Bonnie. Euphemia, finally realizing the importance of the situation, glared at her son. "Don't make me ask again, James Potter. What happened!?" she moved to Sirius who still held Bonnie with a firm grip. "Sirius, you have to lay her down for me, sweetie." Sirius didn't move. "She won't get better if I can't see what's broken or hurt."

Sirius finally walked forward with his limp and laid Bonnie on the couch where Marlene was previously on. Marlene sat on the loveseat now next to Remus who was still bleeding profusely, but no one wanted to even move until Bonnie was okay.

Lily spoke first. "Bonnie's family have been abusing her... we aren't sure for how long, but we know since at least Christmas. I think it was before because she was scared to go home."

Fleamont moved to Remus and Peter, taking out his wand and muttering a few healing spells his wife had taught him before. Peter's was easy since the gash was not as deep as they thought. Remus did not heal so easily.

"Go on," Euphemia urged.

James took over. "We hadn't heard from her since the Platform. Her brother had picked her up, and he wasn't pleasant toward us or her. When she hadn't responded to our letters... she could have been dead for all we knew."

"We planned to go check on her, and get her out only if needed," Mary said.

"And it was needed?" Fleamont's gruff voice spoke.

Marlene gulped and shut her eyes in pain. "She screamed... and it was so bone-chilling, Mrs. Potter. We didn't waste a second. She was on the ground surrounded in her own blood. Lily healed some scars there, but she's been unconscious since we walked in."

"They just let you go?" Euphemia asked, using her wand to close wounds.

Remus laughed bitterly in between his hisses of pain from the Dittany that Fleamont dropped onto his arm. "No. Death Eaters were sent after us. I caught a glimpse up Abram Miller's sleeve; he had the mark. My guess is that he called them."

Euphemia shrieked and glanced at James once more to make sure he was really there. "They tried to—"

"Kill us? Torture us for even daring to step foot in Miller Manor? Yeah," James replied angrily, unconsciously throwing an arm around Lily when he saw her begin to shake. She didn't push him off.

James looked over at Sirius to see him on the ground leaning against the chair. His shirt was bloody, getting bloodier by the second, but his eyes never left Bonnie's figure.

"Sirius," James called. Sirius didn't look at him.

No one else spoke until a rough knock was heard on the door ten minutes later. Sirius noticed every facial expression Euphemia made toward Bonnie. He noticed when she reached her legs, the older witch took in a quick breath as if she was not happy with what she saw. Realizing the knock when it happened again, Euphemia motioned for Mary to get the door, the seventeen-year-old moving quickly to do so.
