"YOU ALL KNOW I don't have fond memories on my birthday," Bonnie whispered as Lily curled her hair the Muggle way. She closed her eyes, Christopher's eyes coming in view every time to wish her 'happy birthday.' He would have his way with her, and she never enjoyed celebrating. "Last year was just luck that I was drunk and away from home."
Marlene sighed. "This is your seventeenth," she said, allowing Mary to do her hair with a wand since Mary was seventeen. They had to limit the usage of Mary's wand because Petunia would throw a fit every time. "I know you don't have great memories, but that's why it's our job to make new better ones!"
Lily nodded and said, "Besides, Bonnie, you've done so much for everyone. Just hush and allow us to celebrate you for a day!"
Bonnie sighed again, opening her eyes to smile at her friends. Alice was doing her makeup in the mirror, and when she caught Bonnie's eye, she winked. Bonnie let out a laugh. "I don't deserve you all."
"Nonsense!" Mary exclaimed, accidentally waving her wand and breaking Lily's vase of flowers. "Shit! Here, Reparo. All new." She smiled sheepishly at Lily's glare. "Anyway... we love you and appreciate you, so you will enjoy the festivities that you have yet to be aware of. I can't wait to see the guys later!"
Bonnie laughed. "You mean Fabian."
"Precisely."
Lily grinned as she pulled the curling iron from Bonnie's hair to show another beautiful curl. "Has Sirius spoken to you, love?"
Bonnie snorted. "Besides the awkward 'pass me the salt' or 'can I please get passed,' no."
The girls laughed. Alice looked at Bonnie in the mirror again. "He is so in love with you, it's quite hilarious how he acts. I can't wait for you two to make up already."
"You act so sure," Bonnie mused.
"Well, you love him, right?" Marlene asked, glancing at Bonnie fearfully, hoping she wouldn't say no and ruin Sirius's surprise.
"Of course," Bonnie replied just as Lily finished. She turned to look at all of them. "I'm just not sure if he actually said it because he does love me or he was afraid or... or—I don't know! Stop laughing!" The girls giggled more. "Well, James told me to wear something nice. Does this account for nice?"
She held up the skintight, long sleeve navy dress that went just above her knees. She was going to pair it with kneehigh black boots. Her brunette curls and dark makeup would pair perfectly.
"He's going to burst when he sees you in that," Marlene said with a wiggle of her eyebrows.
Bonnie rolled her eyes. "I'm wearing this for me because I know I'm hot, not for Sirius."
"Mhm," Mary teased. "Keep telling yourself that."
With a roll of her eyes, Bonnie moved to get changed.
Sirius was pacing. For what? Godric only knew, but he couldn't stop. James was glaring at him from his bed, throwing things at him to get him to stop. Sirius avoiding everything he threw, giving James his own glare in return. Remus and Peter sat on the ground, waiting for Euphemia and Fleamont to leave so they could start getting things ready. Fabian, Gideon, and Frank were supposed to show up soon, but they were never on time.
"I'm about to throw you out my window," James deadpanned. "Get off the runway!"
Sirius stopped and glanced at him. "I'm worried. Is that so wrong!?"
"You're dramatic, is what you are," Remus commented, throwing Sirius his pack of cigarettes. "Go light one, or maybe ten."
"Not in my room! Nuh-uh, out!" James ordered; Sirius and Remus were sniggering as they both walked downstairs to the front porch. James looked at Peter. "We should probably start getting ready."
