BONNIE HAD BEEN hiding in her room since she escaped from Christopher a few days ago when they returned home from Platform Nine and Three Quarters. Christopher laughed outside of the door, whispering how he would play her game of hide and seek. Bonnie knew if he wanted to open her door and walk in, he truly could. She just held her breath and waited. With a sinister grin toward her door, he Apparated back to his flat for the night.
After three days, he came back for a family dinner. He made sure Abram forced Bonnie to sit with them, forcing her out of hiding. The entire dinner, Christopher kept a firm hold of Bonnie's thigh. Bonnie had wished for Sirius Black more that night than she ever had because of his threat on the Platform. Would he really hurt her family to protect her? She didn't want to think of that right now because he wouldn't show up. She had to get out of there on her own, but her plan was foiled as Christopher followed her into the room. It took fist fighting until Christopher forced her into a body-binding curse. She could do nothing.
The next day, Christopher told his parents everything from the train station. That started the beatings. Along with Malfoy's confirmations of how she acted at school, the beatings only got worse. Most nights, her father would beat her until she was unconscious.
She never knew if Christopher visited her on those nights.
Besides the beatings and harassment from her brother, she also was not allowed her wand or to write letters to her friends. She was forced to go to Malfoy Manor more often than she wanted to admit. The Malfoys were allowed to do anything they so choosed to change Bonnie's mind about what side of the war she would be on. The only friend she found was Narcissa, the girl cleaning up Bonnie's bloody wounds after Lucius and Bellatrix had their way with her. Bonnie did not remember it being this bad.
This didn't happen in her past life. What had changed? What had she done or not done? As a month passed with the same routine, Abram and Theodosia were sure that Bonnie was finally breaking. They thought she'd finally give in.
Then, Bonnie would retort something along the lines of 'burn in hell' or 'I'll never be like you, you great ugly muppet' or her personal favorite: just a plain 'fuck you.'
So, it would start all over again.
On this particular night, she was getting beaten for each of her friends. Her father and mother promised they would all die, and the only way to save them was to join the Dark Lord's side.
This was familiar.
Bonnie could remember taking the threat seriously; however, it seemed too soon. Her parents didn't threaten her until before her seventh year. Was it because she was so close with them earlier? Has she changed the future too much? Bonnie felt lightheaded whether it was from the curse Theodosia sent at her or from the weight of her thoughts. Bonnie screamed as the Cruciatus hit her once more.
As soon as Bonnie fell on the ground, her head banging against the floorboards, she saw her parents begin to walk out of the room and Christopher begin to walk toward her. Her eyes shut unwillingly, and she weeped in her mind because she knew he wouldn't leave her alone while she was unconscious.
Then, the unthinkable happened.
The front door burst open, and Bonnie thought she was going mad! A rat riding a black dog stormed into the living room halting any movement from Abram, Theodosia, or Christopher. The dog and rat growled, and Bonnie laughed. She laughed as her eyes fought to stay open.
They were idiots.
But they were her idiots.
Christopher took out his wand as James and Lily were the first faces Bonnie could make out in the fuzziness. With their wands out, the law of underage wizardry didn't even cross their minds. James flicked his wrist once and Christopher's wand flew from his hand. Not being able to hide the shock from his face, James grinned and did the same with Abram and Theodosia as Remus, Marlene, and Mary appeared behind James and Lily looking quite bad arse if Bonnie had to admit.
