May flew the Zephyr with the help of Kina in the co-pilot seat next to her. Fortunately, the plan worked, we went through the Quantum Realm, going subatomic along with the Chronicom ships, taking them all back with us to our timeline. As we flew back to 2019, Phil, Gida, Mack, Leo, Jemma, Daisy, and I were in the lab. Jemma sat on a chair, rubbing her head.
"Okay, okay. I need to take it slow with her, or her mind might collapse." Leo mentioned.
"Just get her to remember you. That's the most important thing." Mack commented.
Leo shook his head. "No, it's not. I need to take something small that she does remember, and I'm gonna draw a line from that to all of the rest."
Leo then turned around to face Jemma, giving her a smile. "Hey, Jemma."
Jemma looked up upon hearing Leo. Once Jemma was looking up at Leo. He then continued. "I was gonna tell your friends a story, and I was wondering if you could fill in some of the blanks."
Jemma glanced over at us, looking hesitant. Daisy and I gave her a nod. Daisy was quick to assure her it was all right. "It's okay. We know him."
"Yeah, And I know some things about you too. Like when you were younger, you had scoliosis." Leo stated. "Yeah? And you would spend your nights lying on your back with your father..."
"Looking up at the stars." Jemma said, finishing his sentence.
Leo nodded. "Yeah. And do you remember what your favorite star was?"
"Theta Serpentis. Though, technically, it was a triple star system in the constellation, uh, Serpens." Jemma mentioned.
"No, no, that's right. What was the traditional name of it? The biggest star in that system?" Leo asked.
"Alya." Jemma replied.
"Yeah, okay. I want you to lock onto that name, because that's where we went. Enoch saved us, wearing another skin. And he got us out of there. Flint made us a piece of the Time Monolith to help us do what had to be done. We arrived safely in that distant solar system, and I became to study the Time Stream." Leo explained. "Jemma, you were afraid it would drive me mad or give me radiation poisoning to interact with it. But we had no choice. We needed solutions. And there was only one path that gave us a chance to succeed. We knew it would take a while to complete our designs."
"And we did." Jemma pointed out.
"Yeah. We did. For years. We had our happily ever after. We knew our friends needed us, not to mention mankind. But we didn't want to say goodbye. So we put it off. But we couldn't stay forever. So we jumped back to the moment we left." Leo continued, informing us what had happened. "One of us had to stay to establish the link between timelines, and it had to be me, because my mind couldn't handle the implant. I didn't see the rest. But now we know it worked out."
"You were with me that whole time. Fitz." Jemma mentioned as she got up from her chair.
Tears filled Leo's eyes as he nodded. "Yeah."
I let out a sigh of relief. She remembered him. Jemma then furrowed her brows. "But why, though? Why...why would we stay so long? I can't follow that logic. Why would we do any of it? That's doesn't...that's not a..."
Jemma trailed off as she paced the room. I glanced over Leo to see a devastated look on his face. I can't imagine what it was like to have a loved one forget you. But it was very painful to watch, especially knowing all that Leo and Jemma had been through.
"She's remembering that she knows him." Daisy mentioned.
"But not that she loves him." I pointed out.
