Chapter 16

Jealous

It was a Saturday, almost mundane. One that I've been missing a lot since I entered formal education.

The scenery before me was just so picturesque. The vast body of water covering an enormous proportion of land swayed along the current. And it wouldn't be complete anymore with Azul's images constantly surging in my head like a flashback.

I smiled as I lifted my head and hand, creating windows through my fingers, shielding my naked eyes from the sunlight and even from the mere harm of it.

I later on closed my eyes as I imagined Azul here alongshore with me though.

Today, I was more attentive with time.

A smile was inevitable on my lips when a random thought popped up in my mind as I wore my contact lenses, preparing to perform my duty later.

In my most private daydreams, I pictured myself waking up with him beside me—still sleeping soundly. Then, I'd get out of our bed early to prepare our breakfast. I'd wake him up after setting our table. We'd converse and trade our sentiments about certain relevant issues... or even about the most trivial stuff with either sluggish or effusive smiles etched on our faces.

"Good morning," he greeted huskily, right hand still busy pulling down the hem of his new worn shirt.

My cheeks flushed in a heartbeat as I averted my gaze.

His hair was a bit messy, his eyes were languid.

"Good morning," I said, putting up a courageous facade.

He nodded once before widening the door.

Because based on my previous attempts, all my efforts to insist were in vain.

I had no idea why though. But ever since that stormy day occurred, I noticed that Zaro became more thoughtful, gentle, and kind to me.

I supposed... we're a bit closer now. And I'd be lying if I say that my admiration towards him didn't grow each passing day. Because in fact, it deepened wildly. Like a little flame scattering through the forest until it exacerbates like a wildfire.

What a great way to disappoint one's self, Lumi. I thought you're working upon forgetting your own shallow feelings? Were you rather planning to dig deeper than the actual surface?

Senyorito excused himself when his phone rang for an early call.

Aside from his fascinating looks and capabilities, he's got a lot of responsibilities to take care of.
