Chapter 42: Amy

It was early in the morning when Lisa saw cars, trucks, and vans entering the hotel compound. She thought she heard Angel mentioned festivals organized by the hotel annually. She was looking forward to the festival and wanted to go shopping.

The hawkers just set up their business. Most of them were not operating yet. She went out too early. Some stall sold breakfast already opened and she decided to try Chinese breakfast.

The first stall they sold deep-fried dough stick and soy milk. It was a weird combination but the taste was good. The seller suggested dipping the dought in the soy milk. Lisa doesn't think she gonna like it tho.

She went to the next store to look for other food. She wanted to eat more that day so that she wouldn't regret it later. She found a stall that sold wonton and noodles. She chose shrimp and beef fillings and lighter broth.

Soon as she finished her food, she received a call from Angel.

"Miss, do you want to join us for a volleyball competition?"

"I don't feel like it..."

"Aaa... come on, Miss, we are lacking a member." Angel begged.

"Who's in your team now?"

"Me, Ai Lin and baobao (baby)."

"What?! Whose child do you kidnap now!"

Angel laughed.

"She not a baby. She's an adult. People call her that because she's cute as a baby. She's one of the receptionist."

"You can look for other people first. I don't want to play. I'm not good at sports. I'm afraid I can make our team lose."

"Miss, we just gonna play for fun. We don't have too rigid rules. Just hit the ball."

Angel was persistent. Lisa felt bad to keep refusing her.

"Let me think about it first. I'm not promising tho. What time is it?"

Angel was delighted at her response.

"Okay, Miss. The game will start at 10 am. Please come. Even if you don't want to play, please come to support our team."

"Okay. I see you later."

After ending the call, she got more time to wander around. The other stalls were opened. One by one she stopped by to look for something that caught her eyes. There were t-shirts, toys, crafts, traditional food and so on.

However, there was one stall that made Lisa lingered there longer. The pet shop. Remembering her cat pets in her members' care she doesn't get a pet in China to keep her company. there were rabbits, chameleons, sugar gliders, spiders, and terrapin turtles. They were so cute. Lisa hasn't seen one in real life.

"How much is it, the turtle?"

"10 yuan each." Not too expensive.

"Got male and female?"

"Yes..."

"Can you choose for me?"

The sales lady grinned.

"I'm sorry miss. I also don't know which one is male or female. You can ask my boss. But he's not here now. I suggest you to but it and see which one will lay eggs."

Lisa took a while to think about it. She wanted to buy but she was uncertain if she wanted to buy a pair or just one turtle. They must be want to be friends. She really wanted the turtles.

"Can you reserved a pair for me?"

"Sure. What time will you come to pick them up?"

"10 pm."
