Chapter Thirty Four

Kira sat up with a start after having a frightening nightmare-she was literally drenched from head to toe in sweat. A throbbing pain appeared onto the back of her head, making her wince. It took a few minutes for it to pass and for her to realize the futon next to her own was empty. She peered up to see her and Shigure's bedroom door slightly open and so she crawled over opening it seeing Shigure sitting in the living room working on his novel.

She let out a small breath and crawled over and giving him a start when she suddenly leaned onto his back.

"What's wrong, Kira?" Shigure asked softly, as he continued to write

"I had a nightmare...but I have no idea what it was about. All I saw was through my eyes I was looking up at a cliff and there were a couple of people," Shigure's eyes widened but he held back from turning or moving," The people looking down were screaming, but I have no idea who they are because their faces were all blurred and their voices were so muffled that it was impossible to tell what they were saying..."

Shigure opened his mouth about to speak, but the sounds of even breathing and the weight on his back made him realize that Kira had fallen back to sleep. He sighed looking up before turning and slowly wrapping his arms around her and picking her up into his arms and carrying her to their room.

When he lowered her into her own futon, he had stayed sitting right next to her. He took one of her hands into his own and remained there for a few minutes before getting up and leaving the room. He went straight to the hall and used the phone there over the one in their room.

Hatori who was in bed had woken up to phone ringing. Naturally, as his job was unpredictable and not entirely scheduled, he was not bothered with the time or lack of sleep he had.

"Hello?" He answered

"Hatori I have called for a pleasurable late-night call~" Shigure sang making Hatori frown and his hand twitched holding the receiver he considersd hanging up. Shigure had somehow feeling the gesture stopped him on time," Wait, no don't hang up, I am just kidding!"

"Unless someone is sick or dying-I will consider not harming you, Shigure"

Shigure laughed softly before letting out a deep sigh," Listen, it's about Kira"

"What happened?" Hatori asked instantly," Is she sick again? Did she sleep outside or-

"Wait, wait, Hatori~ Let me finish" Shigure chuckled stopping his friend from having a panic attack

"Then what about Kira-

"She had a nightmare, about her accident" Hatori did not say anything and fell silent, almost dropping the phone, but he fought the weakness in his arm and held it," But, it doesn't seem like she knows, that it was that time"

"How are you sure?" Hatori finally responded and on the other end, Shigure just fell silent before letting out another sigh.

"She mentioned that it was unclear, the only thing she expressed was looking up to the cliff and everything else was undistinguishable. Also, since she did not react as much, my guess is that she just thinks it's a random nightmare"

Hatori tapped a finger on his desk and looked at the calendar," Her accident was exactly 15 years and 8 months ago," He expressed running a hand on the date," What are the coincidences of it appearing on this exact day?"

"What a terrifying way to put it, Hatori" Shigure let out a dry laugh, as his eyes also made it on a calendar that was on the wall near him," She has been working a lot lately, it can also be the stress from it" Shigure raised a hand to his chin rubbing it before smiling," Why don't we go to the summer house?"

"What brought that up, Shigure?" Hatori narrowed his gaze

"It would be a nice break, for all of us. I mean, I think we all deserve some time to just sit back and enjoy the summer, don't you think?"

"I don't know-

"Look, there is a five-day continuous holiday for the kids. It'll be the perfect timing and no one would question it"

"Shigure, I still don't think-

"Listen, Hatori-

It had ended up taking a lot more convincing from Shigure before Hatori had finally agreed.
