"Rohan will you please help me in arranging the room?", I pleaded my husband. Its difficult to keep rooms arranged when there are two toddlers fighting like cats and dogs in the house.
I didn't even complete sweeping half of the room when I heard a crashing sound in the next room..
These two will never let me sit in peace even for a second.
"What did you break Ayaan?", I asked my two year old son.
He looked at me with such guilt filled eyes that I couldn't help but stop myself from scolding him. Pointing his index finger towards the broken flower vase, he tried to show how sorry he was.
"This is not going to work Ayaan. Everytime you break something you cant say sorry and get away with it. This was a costly vase", I folded my arms across my chest.
"Sorry mommy", he apologised and I couldn't help but melt down at his sweet gestures.
"Its okay.. be a good child. I have many pending works to do.."
After about completing all the work I got some time to get ready.
"Anjali! Hurry up! The guests will be coming soon..", Rohan yelled from the next room.
"Just five more minutes..."
I placed the birthday cake of Ayaan on the table and fixed the candles surrounding it followed by the plastic knife beside it.
"All set?", Rohan asked.
"Mostly", I answered with a genuine smile.
He placed the big "happy birthday" banner and decorated the room with colourful baloons..
"Aisha and Ayaan, are you ready?"
"Yes mommy", they said in unison.
One by one all the invited guests arrived and I had a hard time managing them together as well keeping an eye on Aisha and Ayaan.
"Ayaan stand in front of the cake and hold the knife firmly in your hand", Rohan instructed.
"Blow the candles my child."
The room buzzed with the birthday song as everyone wished for Ayaan. With one stroke he cut out a piece of cake. He looked at me so adorably trying to seek permission for eating the cake.
"Give this piece to the person you love the most", my mother advised.
Ayaan became more confused and glanced from me to Rohan to Aisha. Everyone waited eagerly for Ayaan to choose the person he loves the most. Finally what seemed like an eternity he took slow steps towards Aisha but contrary to everyone's expectations smashed the cake on her face instead of feeding her.
Aisha looked at him with such an intense gaze that I feared these two will start fighting again.
"Why did you do that Ayaan?", Rohan enquired.
"She disturbs me all the time.."
"Its not right.. what did grandma ask you to do?", I said.
"I dont know whom I love the most. I love you all", he said so sweetly that everyone had an expression of "aww" on their face.
"Hii Anjali", Natasha pulled me into a strong hug.
"Hii Nats, its such a long time", I was on the verge of shedding happy tears.
"I miss you".
"I miss our good old days.."
Time changes a lot of things. Natasha and I have been distant over the years but never get separated. She has moved to Dubai and is in a live in with Pritam. Sounds too bad right? I am happy for them, they are not ready to marry as of now. As long as they are happily living in love I am happy for them..
