"He's perfect." Timothée said putting his finger into our son's hand as he wrapped his little hand around it.

It was the most precious thing I had ever seen.

We were sitting in the hospital bed, admiring the life we created together and the one I had brought into the world less than 10 hours ago.

There was a soft knock on the door that startled us both. We both looked up.

Nicole, Mark, and Pauline walked into the room with tons of bags and balloons.

"Hi." I whispered trying not to wake y/s/n.

They set the gifts on the floor and put on some hand sanitizer, then came over to us.

"Hey guys." Timothée said getting up to greet them.

Nicole came over to me and hugged me, also giving me a kiss on the cheek before looking down at y/s/n.

"Can I?" she asked. I nodded.

I handed her y/s/n slowly and she carried him in her arms.

He looked smaller in someone else's arms besides mine and Timothée's.

"Hello." she cooed and teared up.

Another precious sight. She held the baby as Marc and Pauline came over to say hi to me as well.

Nicole handed the baby to Marc after a few minutes. He just looked absolutely amazed.

"Mon petit fils." he whispered and kissed his forehead. (my grandson.)

Marc held him longer than Nicole did, whispering things to him in French that weren't audible.

Before Marc handed Pauline our son, she stepped away to compose herself.

"Alright, I'm ready." she sniffled.

Timothée took the baby from Marc and walked over to Pauline.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes! Let me hold my nephew please."

Timothée handed her the baby and she started crying again.

"Oh my gosh. He looks just like you y/n." she said looking over at me.

"I think he looks like me." Timothée gloated.

"That would be unfortunate." she laughed.

"How are you feeling?" Nicole asked sitting on the bed as the rest of the party watched the baby.

"In all honesty, I'm just so tired. I stay awake for everything and anything that can happen to him, even though that's not good for me."

"That's completely normal. I felt the same way with those two," she said tilting her head toward her kids "it will take some time to get into a cycle. Rest is extremely important."

"Any advice?" I asked.

"You just have to breathe sometimes, do not go too hard on yourself. This is a completely different change in your life."

"How do I know if I'm doing it right?"

"You don't know. Every baby is different, it's a learning process. You and Timothée will be fine," she grabbed my hand and raised to to where he was standing. He turned around and looked at us with a smile "you're going to be amazing parents."

"Thank you." I said getting choked up.

She gave me a hug again.

"How about we get out of your hair?" she said getting off the bed.

"Oh you don't have to go, it's fine."

"You need some rest, plus it's my son's turn to do the work this time." she winked.

She hugged me again and kissed me on the cheek.

Nicole exchanged words with the three of them and Timothée took the baby from Pauline after saying goodbye.

Marc and Pauline came over to say goodbye to me and waved one last time before leaving the room and closing the door behind them.

Timothée got into the bed again, getting into the same position he was in before.

"What did my mom say to you earlier?" he asked looking at me.

"Oh..it was nothing."

"Gossip wasn't it?"

"No," I shook my head "I just asked her for some advice. She said to take some breathers and to rest."

"That's good advice." he said.

"Yeah." I said adjusting our son's little hat.

"Do you think we know what we're doing?"

"I don't think we have no clue."

I put my head on his shoulder as we both looked down at our son.

"But we'll figure it out."
