"Wow." I heard Timothée say.

I turned away from my mirror and saw him leaning up against my doorframe.

"You were supposed to wait for me downstairs." I said and touched up the last bit of my makeup.

"I know, but I just couldn't," he looked at me up and down "you look beautiful."

"Thank you," I said "you don't look too bad yourself." I grinned.

He smiled.

"Are you ready to go?" he asked.

"Yes." I nodded and grabbed my purse.

We went downstairs.

Timothée and I have been best friends for years, ever since we were in kindergarten.

Rarely are we every apart from each other. We go out to eat together, paint and draw, go on runs, jam out to music. Everything.

Tonight is our senior prom.

Our freshman year we promised each other that if we didn't have dates for it by now, we'd just go together. And we kept that promise.

"You guys look amazing." my mom said.

Timothée's parents and my dad agreed.

After taking millions of pictures, Timothée put on my corsage and I put on his boutonnière, then we headed out the door.

We got to the venue about an hour after we left my house.

"My lady." he said opening my door and grabbing my hand again so I could step out.

"Dork." I laughed.

We walked into the venue.

Our theme is "A Night Under the Stars."

We grabbed our name cards and went to find our table. Our friends were already here too.

We all talked, ate, and took pictures before heading out to the dance floor together.

It felt like the whole night had gone by so fast.

Soon enough the DJ announced the last song of the night, it was a slow one.

Timothée and I stood awkwardly in the middle of the dance floor while couples got together and started dancing.

"Do you want to dance?" he asked.

"Umm.." I bit my lip "sure."

I awkwardly put my hands around his neck as he put his on my waist.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yeah.."

"You sure?"

"I don't know," I shrugged "I feel kind of..awkward around everyone."

Slow dancing with your best friend for the first time is as awkward as it sounds.

"How about we go outside?" he asked, turning me around to look at the gazebo.

"Okay."
