HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!

Chp 26

"Time goes by, tick tock tick
Can measure the moments with a click
Growing up, but not apart
This crew will always be my heart."

"I hope I didn't interrupt the father-daughter time." a very familiar voice spoke

The voice made me whip my head back and run towards the person to hug him.

"Hello to you too, Kiddo." he says patting my head and chuckling as we break the hug

"How have you been, Uncle Sam?" I ask him 

Uncle Sam or Samuel Miller was Jayden's father and our families have been close since the time Jay and I were in our respective mom's wombs.

"I'm as good as ever. You tell me, kiddo. I hope Jayden isn't trouble back at school." he says sitting on a chair beside the bed

"Everything's good and no, Jayden isn't trouble at all. In fact I'm glad he's there with me. He doesn't let me miss you guys too much though." I say honestly and joke at the end to which both men chuckle 

"He better not get you in trouble. His complaints are enough for the whole family." dad says chuckling 

Dad was like a mentor for Jay just like Sam was for me. Jay immensely respected dad while I  did the same with Sam.

Jayden wanted to follow my dad's footsteps and become a lawyer while I've always wanted to become a doctor since I was 8 years old and hence am going to follow the guidelines Sam gives.

Oh right. Uncle Sam is also our family doctor.

 "How is dad's health, Uncle Sam?" I ask

"He's going to be better in no time, kiddo. Don't you worry." he says and I sigh in relief

"So does that mean I can go back to Abu Dhabi without worrying about dad?" I question, just in case

"Definitely." he says with a smile

"When are you planning to leave?" mom says as she enters the room and goes to give medicines to dad

"I'll have to leave Saturday night so I can attend school on Sunday. I have exams coming up." I say

"You're leaving so early?" a small voice came from the direction of the door

"I have to, sweetie." I say kneeling so I match up Kitty's height

"But you said you were going to spend a lot of time with me." she says with tears in her eyes

My heart broke as the tears fell from her eyes.

"I will go now because I have exams but they will get over in a few weeks and I will be back for summer which means we will spend 2 big months together!!" I say wiping her tears 

"2 BIG MONTHS!?" she questions

"YES!" I exclaim and she jumps and hugs me, tight

"I LOVE YOU!" she says and kisses my cheeks

"I love you too, babygirl." I say and kiss her cheeks 

I loved how easy it was to make kids happy. They found happiness in the smallest of things and that's something teens and adults should learn from them.

"Where's Auntie Jennifer?" I ask Uncle Sam while placing kitty on my lap

"She had to assist in a surgery back in the hospital." he informs me

Auntie Jen was a nurse at the same hospital where Uncle Sam worked.

"Tell her to come here after she'd done. We'll all have dinner together." I tell him

"I see you still love family coming together and spending time, huh?" he teases

"I'll always love it when family is together, Sammy" I tease back in a baby voice and pinch his cheeks while everybody laughs

"Elly you really need to grow up and become mature like me." Kitty says in all seriousness 

"Is that so, kitten?" I ask with a raised eyebrow

"Yes. It's like you're more of a baby than I am." she says with an eye roll

"Well lemme show you how much of a baby I am." I say with a grin and start to tickle her

"St..stop" she manages to say between giggles

"Think twice before you call me a baby again, cutiepie." I say with a playful smile

She gets down from my lap and walks towards the door.

"BABY!!" she screams and runs down the stairs so I can't catch her

"OH YOU'RE SO DEAD!!" I scream back and take a run to the direction she went leaving my mum, dad and Uncle laughing behind us
