"But lately colors seems so bright
And the stars light up the night
My feet, they feel so light
I'm ignoring all the signs"
_______________________________________MATTHEW'S POV
"Father." I greet in a monotonous tone as I pick up the most dreaded call
"Matthew," he says and the way he calls out my name disgusts me, "your mother and I just wanted to let you know that we have arranged the annual year ball like we do every year on this Friday but this time, because you are now a legal adult so you will have to bring a date along with you as it is one of the conditions of the ball agreement. And your mother has specifically told that you better not bring up some low class bitch but in my opinion, just make sure she is presentable enough to introduce as your date." he says and hangs up, making be growl in anger
What does this man think of himself?
How the fuck can he just call me and say that I have to bring apparently a 'presentable' date and then just hang up the phone?
That bastard!
I know it sounds horrible of what I think of my dad, but people don't know him like I do.
He's just an arrogant, full of himself, self centered bastard! Nothing less, nothing- okay maybe- more.
Now how the fuck am I supposed to find a date? That man didn't even ask if I wanted to come or no!
"Ughhh!" I growl and throw away my phone to the ground in frustration
"Hey, Matthew. Everything alright?" a soft, peaceful voice asks from beside me
The way she says my name flutters my heart.
"Yeah everything's fine. Nothing you need to worry about, precious." I assure her and smile softly
"Are you sure?" she asks, again
"I am. Now c'mon, everybody must be waiting." I say and grab her hand to start walking
"Just know that I'm here if you need me." she says, looking deep in my eyes
How does she know exactly what to say, all the fucking time?
"Okay." I say but it comes out as a whisper
"C'mon kids, gather up the stuff." Kelly's dad says
"Hey you tired, angel?" I ask kitty as I reach the counter
"Just a little." she says but her eyes are barely staying open
"Come here." I say and lift her up while she gets comfortable and puts her head on my shoulder
"She okay?" Kelly says, worried as she sees kitty in my arms and rubs her hand lightly on kitty's back
"Yeah, just tired." I tell her and she nods
"You want me to carry her to the car?" she asks
"No it's okay. I'll do it." I assure her
I don't know why but I've grown really attached to this kid even though I met her for the first time today.
