JUNGKOOK P.O.V.
"Since you all did well during the hand to hand combat and knife combat lessons, I've decided to just move onto archery, which is the last thing we need to practice since there won't be any practice rounds for rally the flag seeing as everything we're learning now will be combined into the last challenge anyway." Minho explained and Jungkook found himself listening intently, he couldn't help but feel excited as his eyes took in the numerous targets spread throughout the gym. He also couldn't help but feel a little deflated at the teachers words, he had hoped there would be a practice run of the last challenge but apparently the world just loved crushing his hopes.
"This challenge is fairly easy once you get used to handling the bow," the younger snapped back to reality as the teachers voice filtered through again, "whoever is chosen to partake in this challenge will be given ten arrows and they're required to use all of them, which means there will be ten rounds. Whichever house scores higher will be crowned the winner of the challenge," Minho paused, his hands gesturing towards the quivers that contained the arrows. "This challenge is marked differently as you aren't actively competing against just one person, like you would be during the other challenges."
The once quiet hall immediately erupted into noise, the students muttering amongst each other at the new information but the younger wasn't phased, knowing that archery couldn't be marked like the other challenges, remembering how he used to be marked on his basic aim and stance. "You're all going to be learning the basics since I'm sure half of you don't know what challenge your house leader has put you down for," the younger hummed quietly at that, remembering how Namjoon had explained he was the one who would be choosing who would be doing what during the challenges, which is the main reason the older had been asking about their gym lessons.
"Okay, come collect your bows and arrows. The bows are all different so pick the one you think you're going to be more comfortable with because that will be the one you'll be using if you happen to be picked," the teacher finished and Jungkook watched with wide eyes as everyone swarmed around the table, grabbing bows and quiver of arrows.
He hoped there would be a recurve bow left once it was his turn to choose, seeing as that type of bow is normally used in these types of situations, it was also the easiest one to handle and the one the younger had more experience with. Although he had a feeling that most of the people in the gym would end up choosing the ones that looked more cool, not realising how difficult it would be to actually handle them.
Jungkook sighed before finally walking towards the table, surprised to see that Taehyung still hadn't chose his bow yet. It was just the older and him today for gym, Jimin having to do a dance assessment with Hoseok that would last for most of the day, meaning the older would miss all his lessons for the day. The younger didn't mind though seeing as he liked to spend time with all of his hyungs so he wasn't complaining to have the older male all to himself for the day.
"Are you okay, hyungie?" the younger asked as he picked up a recurve bow, mentally sighing in relief that he was able to get one. The older hummed and nodded, turning his attention onto the younger male with a small smile. "I'm not really educated on archery, so I'm not sure what bow to choose. I know Namjoon hyung isn't going to select me for the challenge but there's always the possibility that he might." the older explained before looking back down at the bows, a thoughtful look spreading across his face.
The younger nodded before grabbing another recurve bow, not surprised by the fact that there were many of these bows left. He then held it out towards the other, remembering the time when the older had helped him with picking out his two knives when he didn't have a clue which ones to pick. "You should use this one, it's the most common and the easiest one to use. It may look boring compared to the others but it'll definitely save you time." he explained and let himself smile as the older accepted the bow with a curious expression, although the male didn't say anything the younger knew he had questions.
