*The title is: Thank You For Loving Me and it is a requested part 2 of Damon Salvatore (Drunk Enough)*
Damon hadn’t seen you in a year.
                              A whole year.
He missed everything about you and he just wasn’t himself.
He was no longer sarcastic, cynical, or blood drunk.
He had become angry, sad, and painfully sober.
Damon watched his brother come through the door.
                              Stefan was on the phone.
“Yeah, I just got home. It was good to see you. We should meet up again soon. Take care of yourself. Later, Y/N,” He overheard.
Just as Stefan hung up, he was pinned to the wall by Damon.
                              “You saw her?” he demanded.
                              Stefan slowly nodded.
                              Damon’s expression softened.
                              “How is she?” he asked.
“She’s hurt. But she’s getting better,” Stefan said simply.
                              “Where is she?” Damon asked.
                              Stefan shook his head.
“I just need to talk to her. Just once. Please,” Damon begged his brother.
Stefan had never seen his brother like this; not over any girl.
He reluctantly handed over your address and felt a gust of wind as his brother ran to you.
You were in your living room, chilling on the couch after seeing Stefan when you first heard it.
                              A soft voice singing.
It's hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There's no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
We'll leave the world outside
All I've got to give to you
Are these five words tonight
You stood to your feet immediately.
                              You recognized the voice.
                              HIS voice.
There, at your door, stood Damon.
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky's a different blue
Cross my heart
I wear no disguise
If I tried, you'd make believe
That you believed my lies
You tried to step backwards, but Damon quickly made his way to you and held your hand in his.
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me
You stood, watching the tears slip down his face as he poured his heart out to you in the form of a Bon Jovi song. Your heart was pounding in your chest, and you wanted nothing more than to just hold him and kiss him.
Lock the doors
We'll leave the world outside
All I've got to give to you
Are these five words tonight
Damon’s eyes peered into yours and he prayed you would mend his heart and claim it once more. He was sure of one thing, he couldn’t face your rejection.
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
You parted my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
When I couldn't fly
Oh, you gave me wings
You parted my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
Damon finished and you looked into his puppy dog eyes, brimming with fear.
You took your hands out of his and you noticed a fresh tear slip down his cheek.
You wiped it and wrapped your arms around his neck.
You kissed him hungrily and he returned the kiss with a deep hunger of his own.
“Thank you for loving me,” he whispered.
                              “Always.”
