You were fairly new to the team.
This was only your second case.
You hadn’t really had a chance to get to know them yet and they hadn’t had the chance to get to know you.
You guys were currently on the jet, discussing your the case at hand.
It was about a small town where cluster suicides were taking place.
It didn’t seem like your type of case, but JJ had a hunch about it.
You guys were just going to check around and if anything seemed off, you would treat it like your case.
Garcia was going over the backgrounds of each victim.
Something wasn’t sitting right with you.
They showed no signs of contemplating suicide.
No last goodbyes, no extra signs of affection, and no I-love-you’s to anyone.
“Are they sure these were suicides?” you asked, speaking up.
JJ looked at you, as if you had been reading her mind.
“Coroner’s pretty sure,” Garcia said.
“What’s on your mind?” Hotch asked you.
“It’s just... None of the usual warning signs were shown and there was no note or anything. Something’s off,” you said.
Spencer looked at you.
“Y/L/N’s right, for kid’s with that kind of background, this came completely out of the blue,” he agreed.
“Please,” you asked, “Call me Y/N.”
Spencer nodded and blushed, dropping his eyes.
“The kid’s got a crush!” Morgan teased.
Spencer glared at him and you pretended not to notice what was going on.
You guys landed and as you exited the plane, you began coughing.
“Are you alright?” Rossi asked, concerned.
“Yeah. Must be something in the air,” you said, brushing it off.
“You sure, Y/N?” JJ asked, walking up behind Rossi.
“I’m sure. I’ll be fine,” you said.
“Good. Morgan, Spencer, and Y/N, you guys go to the last crime scene. Rossi and JJ will go to the first. I will go to the field office and start things there,” Hotch ordered.
Everyone nodded and walked off.
You got into the back of the car while Morgan took the wheel and Spencer got into the passenger’s side.
“Y/N, you feeling okay?” Morgan asked, looking at you in the rearview mirror, “You don’t look so hot.”
“I’m fine,” you assured him.
He shared a look with Spencer, but took off.
You had a coughing fit the whole way to the crime scene.
You had severe asthma when you were younger, but as you entered your late teens, it seemingly disappeared.
It didn’t occur to you that you could be having an asthma attack until you stepped out of the car.
The boys had gone ahead, but you tried to slowly make your way there.
Your chest had tightened, you kept coughing, and your head was starting to spin.
You leaned against a tree and noticed Spencer and Morgan running towards you.
Before they could reach you, you passed out.
You woke up in a hospital bed and Spencer sleeping in a chair at your side.
You tapped him gently and he woke up.
“Oh my God, you finally woke up,” he said.
“How long was I out?” you asked.
“Three days,” he told you.
“What? Three days? What about the case?” you asked.
“You had an asthma attack and have been asleep in the hospital for three days and you’re worried about the case?” he asked, puzzled.
“Of course, those kids!” you said.
Spencer took your hand.
“We solved the case yesterday. The team went home. I stayed here so I could take you home when you woke up,” Spencer said.
“You didn’t have to do that,” you said.
“I wanted to. Why didn’t you tell us you had asthma?” he asked.
“Because it went away a long time ago,” you said.
Spencer held up an inhaler.
“I got you this,” he said.
“Why?” you asked.
“I don’t want you to get hurt,” Spencer muttered.
“What was that?” you asked, not hearing him correctly.
Spencer blushed and looked away.
“What’s on your mind, Spence?” you pushed, calling him by his nickname.
“I like you, Y/N. You’re new but you’re nice and you care,” he said.
“I like you, too, Spencer,” you admitted.
Spencer smiled.
“May I kiss you?” he asked.
You smiled back and nodded.
Spencer briefly pressed his lips to yours.
“Spencer and Y/N sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G!” you heard someone sing from the doorway.
You laughed while Spencer groaned.
“Oh, by the way, Morgan’s here.”
