You were dating the one and only Dan Reynolds, lead singer of Imagine Dragons.
He was on tour and you were all alone in your shared apartment.
You were currently laying on the couch flipping through Netflix.
You finally decided on watching Lie to Me.
As you got halfway through the episode, you realized you were hooked and in love.
Your phone suddenly went off and you answered it without taking your eyes off the screen.
“Hello?” you asked.
“Hey, Y/N,” you heard.
You recognized Dan’s voice immediately and paused the show.
“Dan!” You laughed.
He chuckled.
“I’ve got good news, honey,” he said.
“What is it?” you wondered.
“I’m in the airport. I’m coming home,” he said.
You squealed.
“You’re taking a break?” you asked.
“No. Tour’s over,” he answered.
“Do you want me to pick me up?” you asked.
“I would, but the plane’s having delays, so I’ll be home around 6 pm and I don’t want you driving in the dark,” he said.
“I can’t wait to see you! I missed you, Danny,” you said.
You could practically feel him wince over the phone.
He hated your nickname for him, but you loved it.
So he let you get away with it.
“Sorry, baby, I have to go,” he said.
“Okay. I love you,” you smiled.
“I love you too,” he answered.
You both hung up.
You, in a flurry of excitement, began to cook a fancy welcome home dinner.
Four hours of slaving over the stove later, and it was done.
You took a shower and changed.
Six o’clock rolled around and Dan wasn’t home.
You didn’t have any calls either.
You waited until 8 and realized he was going to be late.
You packed up everything and placed it in the fridge.
You changed into pajamas.
You waited on the couch until midnight.
You were tired and could barely keep your eyes open.
You scribbled down a note for Dan telling him there was food in the fridge and apologizing for not being awake for him.
An hour or two later, the opening and closing of the front door woke you up slightly.
You were left in the stage in between awake and asleep.
After a few minutes, you felt strong arms lift you up.
Dan carried you to bed and laid you down.
You felt him slide in next to you.
“I love you,” he whispered, kissing your forehead and cuddling you.
You smiled softly.
You fell completely asleep.
A few minutes later, holding you tight to his body, Dan followed you into Dreamland.
