One Night Surprise

63(Miu)

Nagmadali akong sumakay ng taxi papunta sa hospital.
The voice of LJ is shaking ng tumawag ito sa akin ng madaling-araw dahil naaksidente raw si Prey.

Patakbo na akong pumasok sa hospital ng marating ko ito.
Hinanap ko agad kung saan ang emergency room sana hindi gaanong nasaktan si Prey at ang baby.

Nakita ko si LJ na umiiyak sa labas ng emergency room may mga dugo ang damit niya pero base sa nakikita ko mukhang kay Prey ang mga dugo na yun.

"Miu I'm sorry!" Bungad ni LJ sa akin.
Naguluhan ako sa panghingi niya ng sorry sa akin.
"Anong nangyari kay DP?!" Nakatingin lang ako ng diretsyo sa kanya.
"Kasalanan ko ito Miu!" Sigaw ni LJ.
"Kumalma ka muna LJ ano ba talaga ang nangyari?" Napalingon ako sa paligid.
"Si Tito Conrad tinawagan muna?!" Tanong ko sa kanya.
Hindi ito sumagot bagkus panay hingi ito ng sorry.
Kung may kinalaman man si LJ sa aksidenteng nangyari kay DP malamang hindi ko siya mapapatawad.
"LJ ano ba talagang nangyari?!" Tarantang sabi ko.
"Miu I deserve to die!" He blurted.
"What?!" I started to get a headache.
Wala akong makuhang impormasyon kay LJ kung ano talaga ang nangyari kay Prey bukod sa ang alam ko lang naaksidente ito.
Kumalma na muna ako baka sakaling kumalma na rin si LJ.
Tinawagan ko na rin si Tito Conrad para ipaalam ang nangyari kay DP.

I saw LJ sitting on the corner he is pacing out.
"What did you do LJ." It's not a question nor a statement.
He still pacing.
Sa kalagayan ngayon ni LJ I know I can't get an answer from him.
Ilang oras rin kaming naghintay.

Biglang lumabas yung doctor sa emergency room nakita ko ang reaksyon ng mukha ng doctor yung tipong magsasabi ng masamang balita kaya bigla akong kinabahan.

Agad ako lumapit sa doctor kahit pa alam ko sa sarili ko na may masama siyang balitang sasabihin.

"You are?" Sabi ng doktor.
"I'm her bestfriend." Sagot ko.
Napatingin ako saglit kay LJ kasi nakatulala pa rin ito at sa tingin ko hindi niya pa kayang marinig kung ano man ang sasabihin ng doctor.

"Unfortunately the baby didn't make it I'm sorry to say, for now your friend is in stable but when the patient is awake let's pray that there is no severe traumatic brain injury."

I can't absorb what the doctor said.
"What?! No."

"We will transfer her in a private room any minute. Maiwan ko muna kayo."The doctor gently tap my shoulder before he walks away.

My tears starts to fall.
I'm afraid what might the reaction of Prey when she finds out that the baby is gone.

"Its all my fault Miu." LJ is talking pero hindi ito makatingin ng diretsyo sa akin.
"What did you do LJ!" I try to calm myself but my voice can't.
"Ano ba talaga ang nangyari kay DP?!"I added.
"She saw me with another woman in bed but I swear hindi ko ginusto yun." He tries to explain it.
"Lasing ako Miu at hindi ko ginusto na mangyari to. Hindi ko inakala na hahantong na mababangga ang minamaneho ni Prey."
"What did you say?!" I can't believe what I heard coming from LJ.
My palm is ready to slap his face when suddenly..

"What did I hear?!"

Napalingon kami sa nagsalita.
There's an evident shock on our faces when we see tito Conrad.

He approach towards LJ then grabbed his collar.
"What did I hear LJ!? What did you do!" He shout.
"Dad." He is avoiding to look into his eyes.
"Don't call me dad after what you did to my daughter!"
Tito Conrad suddenly punch LJ on the face.
"Tito Conrad please calm yourself." I intervention I know LJ deserve that punch but knowing tito Conrad baka hindi lang suntok makuha ni LJ.

"My baby is gone." LJ mumbling.
He manage to stand still its like his face is numb of the pain sa pagkakasuntok ni tito Conrad sa kanya.
"I want to kill you!" Tito Conrad gritted his teeth. Nilapitan niya muli si LJ tapos hinawakan muli ang collar nito.
"Tito Conrad kumalma lang po kayo please baka ano pang mangyari sa inyo." Lumapit ako  para pakalmahin si Tito Conrad.

Tito Conrad let go the collar of LJ.
"Don't you dare come near to Prey at ako na ang magsasabi sayo LJ divorce my daughter! I won't ever let you see her again after I trusted you with her what did you do!"

"I'm sorry!" LJ begging for sorry.
"Your sorry wont change anything you are the one who killed the baby." There's a sting on Tito Conrad said.

My eyes starts to watery again.

"Do you want to die here? Just go LJ!" I interrupt.
As I thought I want to slap him but what is the use of hurting LJ when it won't change anything the baby is gone and Prey is still unconscious.
"But Miu I want to see her." LJ begging.
"Please dad I want to see her." He starts to cry again.
"Do you think gusto ka rin makita ni Prey?!" I said.
"You won't see her again!" Tito Conrad said.

It's been two days but Prey is still unconscious as I watch her on the hospital bed how I wish the accident didn't happened.
After that day hindi ko na nakita si LJ.
I know tito Conrad hired some bodyguards para lang hindi makalapit si LJ kay Prey.
Makakabuti na rin siguro na hindi na muna magpakita si LJ baka mapatay pa siya ni tito Conrad.

"Prey its time to wake up." I look up try not to fall a tear.
The only sound I can hear is the hospital equipment.
"Even though your unconscious you are still beautiful." I give up I let my tears fall. Hindi ako sanay na makita siya sa ganung condition. I thought she will be crash into pieces if she wakes up and she finds out what happened to her baby. Kaya ba pinili mo na matulog na lang Prey?!
"It's fine, you can sleep for now Prey so you won't feel the pain."
Biglang pumasok si tito Conrad sa kwarto.
Dali-dali ko pinunasan ang mga luha ko bago pa makita ni tito Conrad na umiiyak ako. I don't want to see him cry again dahil alam ko magagalit si DP lalo na mahal na mahal niya ang daddy niya, ayaw na ayaw niya itong makitang umiiyak.
"Miu, kanina ka pa dito?" He immediately asked.
I nod. "Opo, Tito."
He looks Prey with love in his eyes.
"Thank you Miu for always visiting Prey alam ko busy ka sa trabaho mo but still you have time to visit."
Prey has a especially spot in my heart even though we are not blood related we always treat each other like sisters.
"I'm her bestfriend after all I should always by her side no matter what happened at gusto ko nandito ako kapag nagising na si DP."
"Soon magigising rin siya Miu." Tito Conrad gently smile try to hide the pain in his heart.
"She will tito because she is a fighter."
I glance at Prey and grab her hand.
I want her to feel the warm of my hand on her.
