Chapter 24: Family

"Wake up!"

I opened my eyes and seen Shavone standing in front of me smiling.

I sighed and rubbed my eyes.

"What do you want?" I asked sitting up.

"Did you forget that today is Crazy Calvin's birthday?" She asked sitting next to me.

I rolled my eyes.

"Honestly, yeah. I did. Where is his party at anyway?" I asked.

"Mama's house. You know he think he her son...."

I laughed. "Yeah you right. Lemme get up and get dressed. Make sure Cameron is dressed please."

"Girl, he not even here. Chris came and picked him up this morning. They're going the barbershop." She said looking on her phone.

I smiled at the fact that they're building a relationship.

"You're being creepy." She said walking out my room.

After I got dressed, we headed over to my mom's house. For my cousin Calvin's birthday party. Calvin is my younger cousin and he is a famous comedian.

He is the life of our parties. We're like super duper close so he's like my brother. And he always takes up for me, Ash, and Von. Oh yeah. Keenan too.

I walked in the party and seen him sitting in a chair smiling.

"Speaking of the devil." My mama said smiling.

"Hey ma." I smiled and hugged her.

"Where is my grandchild?" She asked.

"Chris took him to the barbershop." Shavone said cutting in.

"I was talking to his mother." My mom said.

Shavone laughed and shook her head walking away.

I smiled and walked to Calvin.

"Hey you."

He looked at me and gave me a blank stare.

"What?" I asked.

"Why you got them heels on standing next to me? You know I'm small. You don't wear heels next to me." He snapped.

I laughed.

"I'm not taking my shoes off because of you. You gone have to get over it. I worked hard for my Louboutins." I laughed.

"Well you can take those fake-boutins over there because I'm not talking to you until you do."

I laughed.

"Go over there!!" He said in his famous high pitched voice.

I laughed. I can't deal with him.

Chris

"You hungry? I asked Cameron.

He nodded.

"Yeah."

"What you want to eat?" I asked opening the door.

"McDonald's." He said smiling showing his missing tooth.

This boy gone turn into Ronald.

I shook my head and opened the car door for him.

"Lemme guess you want a happy meal?"

He nodded.

I chuckled and started the car pulling out the barber shop parking lot.

After I got him his McDonald's he was quiet the rest of the ride.

"Are we going to mommy?" He asked.

I smiled at him through my mirror.

"Yeah lemme call her and see where she is." I dialed her number and waited for her to answer.

"Hello?" She answered.

I smiled. "Hey baby girl. What you up to?" I asked looking at Cameron who was looking out the window.

"At my cousins birthday party. You wanna come?"

"I wish I could turn up I gotta hit the studio then a few meetings later. I'm on my way yo drop cammy off now."

She sighed.

"Alright. I'll text you the address to where we are."

I nodded. "Aight."

I hung up and turned my radio on.

"Mommy!" He ran into my arms and hugged me.

"Hi baby."

"Look at my hair cut!" He snatched his hat off smiling really big.

"It's cute! Did you lose a tooth?" I asked smiling.

He nodded. "Yeah."

I smiled and held my hand out for a hi-5.

"Gimme some!"

He slapped my hand and looked at the door.

"Grammy!!!!" He ran up to her and hugged her as she took him in the house.

I sighed and looked at Chris.

"Thank you for taking him today." He waved me off.

"Thats my homie." He laughed.

I smiled.

"Was he trouble?"

He shook his head no.

"Cameron's actually pretty cool."

"Hes nothing like his dad. Thank the Lord."

He chuckled. "I ran into him the other day too."

My eyes widened up and my heart started throbbing.

"What happened? You didn't hit him did you?"

He laughed. "You should see your face!"

I playfully rolled my eyes and crossed my eyes.

"Did you?"

He shook his head.

"Nah. But he did say some stuff though."

"Like what?"

He sighed. "Don't worry about it. Look, I'll holla later alright?"

Kissed my cheek and walked away. He stopped and turned towards me. "Tell everybody hi for me."

I watched him get in his car and drive off. I sighed and went in the house.

"Y'all cute!"

I looked behind me and saw Ashley standing there.

"Girl whatever." I said fixing myself a plate.

"Girl, you need to see if he can hook me up with August or Trey Songz or somebody."

I laughed.

"Girl. You a trip!"
