Wilbur's comment caught me off guard. I had not expected him to put me in charge, especially since I had only arrived the day before and had no idea what was going on.

"No matter what happens during this war, no matter who wins and who loses, just remember that we're on the right side of history here, okay?"
We all nodded in unison before everyone's eyes seemed to shift to me.

"So, if you don't mind me asking, where about is this field that we're meeting at?"
"Oh right yeah, I forgot you only came back yesterday. Tommy, can you please show your sister the way"
Wilbur let out a chuckle before nudging Tommy, prompting him to walk in front of us, with the rest of us trailing along behind him.

"Guys we run for no man, okay? Just take your time and prepare yourself for what's about to come"
We slowly made our way up to the hill as Tommy began to ramble, but his comments seemed to fill me with confidence that I didn't even realise I was lacking.

"Right, who's got bows? Just in case we need to do some long-distance fighting"
Tubbo and Tommy both raised their hands and looked at me.
"Right, everyone feed their arrows to either me, Tommy, or Tubbo. You got that? I'm expecting some sort of ambush or that they've already got a plan in place, so expect the unexpected gentleman"
I tried to make myself sound as confident as possible, pushing the overwhelming feeling of fear down to the pit of my stomach while hoping for the best outcome.

I quickly looked around when we reached the top of the hill, noticing a little house nestled within another hill to our right and a big tower with four individuals atop it to our left. Edging slightly closer to the small home, I glared up at the masked man who stared down at me from the tower balcony.

"Gentlemen. What exactly is the meaning of this?"
Letting confidence flow through me, I took a step forward in front of the crowd I had been in before, Tommy following me. Nothing came back from either us or our opponents in response to my question, leaving the sound of an almost silent bow being pulled back as the only sound. After months of training, my ears were quick to pick up on the sound.

"Everyone fall back. They have the high ground, which makes us easier targets."
Everyone retreated, the arrow barely missing Tubbo as I dragged him inside the small house behind us. A slight hissing sound could be heard from where we'd just been as I went to shut the door behind us. When I turned around, I saw a chunk of TNT being hurled towards us. It exploded with a loud, deafening bang. Hundreds of more followed suit from beneath the ground we'd been standing on just moments before. If I hadn't moved us, we would have been blown to smithereens.

"GUYS, GUYS, GET IN THE SEWERS"
Tommy's yells could somehow be heard over the mass destruction, but that didn't really surprise me.
"NO"
Everyone stopped what they were doing, frozen in shock. I never usually yelled, but they were being cowards, trying to run away before the fight even started.

"Tubbo and Tommy, I want one of you at each window, firing back at the enemy. Eret and Fundy, supply them with arrows. Wilbur, keep watch to see if they try anything sneaky, and I'll take the front door. I have my own arrows, so I'll be fine, although archery isn't really my strong point. Got it?"

Everyone nodded and went to their positions, with me, Tommy, and Tubbo upfront, raining fire upon the four men that stood upon the tower. Hardly any shots hit. Most of them just bounced off their armour. However, I did manage to hit one of them in the upper arm with an arrow. He was wearing a white bandana around his head, and I could hear him shrieking in pain from where I was standing.

"Boys, I hit one. This is our time to strike. On the count of three, we run at them. They can't have the advantage of high ground over us for much longer, okay?"
I could hear a murmur of yeses and continued with my plan.

"3....

GO"

With that, the group of boys and I stormed out the front door, evidently startling our opponents as they quickly jumped down the ladder and dashed off towards a tall tower in the distance.

"They're trying to get high ground again. Is there anywhere around here that's close enough to them but slightly higher up?"
Tommy grabbed my wrist and began tugging me forward, with the rest of the group following along behind us.

"We need to go to Punz's tower, it's literally the same height."
"Okay Tommy, I'll follow your lead."
We probably ran for around 5 minutes before reaching the huge grey tower. Tommy and Tubbo hurried up the building's stepladder as I handed them the last of my arrows, opting to stay down on the ground to assist Fundy, Eret, and Wilbur in case anything went wrong.

"We just need to wait here and hope Tommy and Tubbo manage to get a couple of good hits on them from above."
Me and Wilbur stood peering over the wall as Fundy ran towards us, dodging arrows from Dream, who was waiting at the bottom of the other tower with his companions.

Moments later, arrows began to rain down from the sky as Tommy and Tubbo tried their best to hit their enemy as they attempted to fire back at the boys, but the two teenagers were too high up.

"I think they're retreating. They are. They're retreating!"
Wilbur spun around to face me, a broad grin on his face, and he quickly drew me into an embrace. It seemed to bring the warmth back to my body that I didn't realise I lost.

"Thank you... thank you Y/N"
"Wilbur the war isn't won yet. We still need to get home and make sure everything's just how we left it, okay?"
He looked down at me and nodded, releasing me from his tight embrace as Tubbo and Tommy reappeared, jumping for joy.

"Gentlemen, oh and Y/N, I think we should head back home"
To be honest, I'd completely forgotten Eret was there, but I obviously agreed with them, and we all began walking back, full of delight and a sense of victory.

As we strolled back to our home through the trees, lively banter filled the air once more. The walls were insight within minutes and we rushed through the gates, ready to celebrate our shockingly simple win. Tommy had hyped Dream up so much in our letters that I kind of expected better from him.

"Guys, I have something I need to show you all"
